adblock breaks spotify connect

adblock breaks spotify connect

I'm running an adblocker on my phone and whenever I have it enabled it stops me from using Spotify connect to listen on my Onkyo receiver.

This is very annoying.

I've already whitelisted all known Spotify domains but it's not working.

I am a premium subscriber and I find it a bit strange that Spotify won't work through an ad blocker.

I've gone through logs and lists and I can't find any entries that are actual ad sources. IMHO a paying customer should not have to have any connection to ad services (if this is indeed the case).

Hope this can be fixed.

Hey @rajackar, welcome to the Community!

Sorry to hear about the issues you're having with this. What device, operating system, and Spotify version are you running?

Has this always happened with AdBlock? Or did it start happening after a recent app update (Spotify or Adblock)?

If you haven't already done so, try a clean reinstall to see if it helps.

Let us know how it goes.

Hi @SergioDavid

I'm running the latest verison of the Spotify app on Android 8.0 (HTC U11).

It's been happening for a while now.

I've used to seperate adblockers one kernel based and one app beased. Both rely on DNS based ad blocking.

It also happens across multiple installs.

When ad blocking is enabled both my PS4 and Onkyo amp disappear from the list (PC and MAC devices with spotify running in my home still appear).

When I disable the blocking they immediately reappear.

Thanks for looking in to this.
