cannot invite family member

Solved!

cannot invite family member

Hi,

recently upgraded my account to family, added my little brother, seems to work. But now I cant add my other brother. Shouldnt it be possible to add up to 4 family members? Invite button is not shown in family section of my account settings.

At least you are getting an option to invite - when I select Premium for family on the left hand side  I am supposed to see an option to invite family members but it does not give me that option - they took my €14.99 from my credit card quick enough though for Family premium - any one had any luck getting this fixed?  Thanks

Hey @Dmcg67

Did you get an email receipt from Spotify for your subscription purchase?

In it, it shows the Spotify username you paid for:

Username/ID: xxxxxxx

Logout of the app, and be sure to use it, instead of your email address, to login to your account. It's the one with the Premium features.

If you didn't get any email receipt, sometimes the amount gets 'on hold' even if the charge doesn't go through. Normally the amount gets back to your bank account a day or two later.

Hope it helps. 🙂

I've signed up for family membership, paid my money, but when I try and add members, it doesnt allow me.  When I click the 'add' button, nothing comes up. Please can anyone assist or advise.

Many thanks,

Hey @russellrugby465

You should try with a different browser, or open a private window (incognito mode), and see if that does it.

Also, try in a different device (computer, tablet, etc.)

Hope it helps. 🙂

Same problem here. Just upgraded to premium family - but cannot invite any new members. It just doesn't show the invite button.

The first post to this thread was on 2014-12-15 - now it's 2018. And it's still not fixed by spotify? **bleep**?!

Hey @leeshat

This could happen when a duplicate account exists, one with a Spotify username / password and one with your Facebook details.

Did you get an email receipt for your subscription upgrade? In it, it shows your Spotify username:

Username/ID: xxxxxxx

Logout of the Spotify website, and be sure to use it to login to your account. If you see a random number, that's your actual Spotify username, which was assigned automatically to you when you created your account through Facebook. If you see it in your receipt, you need to use the Log In with Facebook button.

Hope it helps. 🙂

I added my son to my family premium account but when I entered his email address, I got a prompt which said “match requested format”. What does this mean?

i was not able to invite my son.

Hi, not sure wat I am doing wrong.  Wen I inivte a family member it just says invite pending.

i would much prefer to speak to a company rep but no such luck.

Hey @jemjimjay59 @Whannaford

Each family member has to have a separate username and password, so the first step is to create new accounts for each new member (if they haven't already).

I suggest creating it with an email address (not the one used for Facebook, if possible), since they'll be able to get a Spotify username / password. Using Facebook will not let you do that.

Each member will now have a Free account, so the next step is for them to join your Family plan through your account (You're the one who pays, so you'll be the Family Admin).

Send the invites to the emails they used to create their accounts.

Let them accept the invite logged in with their own username in the app and in the website. They should make sure to type the address exactly as the Admin did when he created the Family Plan, and also be sure all Family members use the same Internet connection (Home network) regularly.

Hope it helps. 🙂

My son has an email account (not used for facebook) and I invited him. Still, the prompt is “match the requested format” when I click ‘send invite.’

Just upgraded to premium family few months ago - I invited two family members, but cannot invite the other two (whom, by the way) we all live in the same address. It just doesn't let them confirm the invitation I send. I tried with two different emails, and they just cannot go through

we already did that, and still, one of the girls cannot accept and confirm. We used same address and we were working in the same network connection.

Hey @galantoni

You should fill out the contact form, and someone from Spotify will be happy to help you within 24 hrs. Don't forget to check your spam folder for responses as they may end up there.

If you get an automated email directing you to the community or help pages, you need to reply directly to that email (even if its from no-reply) and one of the customer services agents will get back to you.

Alternatively, if you prefer support via Twitter, you can tweet @SpotifyCares or message Spotify Cares Facebook.
