disconnecting Spotify from Facebook

I have just spent the better part of an hour trying to disconnect my Spotify from Facebook, but with no sucess. Spotify will not let me log back in apart from Facebook.

I did find a suggestion to go to "edit"-->"Preferences" to disconnect social media/Facebook. I went there and found no such option.

I am deleting my Facebook account, which seems to mean I need to cancel my Spotify subscription. Anyone out there got an idea? Thanks

If your Spotify account was created using Facebook, it is forever tied to that Facebook account I'm afraid. So if that is the case, you will need a brand new account.
