error 408 - cant change the country

error 408 - cant change the country

I live in the french caribbean, and when i created my account, the country was set up automatically. After 2 weeks i couldn't acces my account anymore (they say im not in the right country) and when i go to settings the only option is still france!

Hey @ksbh,

 

Most of those problems come from a difference between the country shown by the IP address, and the one in your profile.

 

First, check your IP address here.

After that, compare it to the country shown in your profile.
 
Your IP address should show France (even if you're in the French Caribbean) if you want to have a Free account. More info here.

So I guess the problem comes from the fact that the island i'm on is registered as a "country" (according to the IP, france is never mentioned) and therefore spotify is just unavailable here?

I believe so. Try filling out the contact form, and someone from Spotify will get back to you within 24 hrs. Hopefully they'll be able to help you, or give you a definitive answer. Don't forget to check your spam folder for responses as they may end up there.

 

If you get an automated email directing you to the community or help pages, you need to reply directly to support@spotify.com and one of the customer services agents will get back to you.
