Additionally, attach a screenshot of the error message you're seeing if the problem persists. Make sure to hide sensitive information when posting to the Community.

Hey Billy! My gift card says I can’t use it because I have an existing premium account I’m not sure what do do from there. Any ideas?

Thanks for posting in the thread!

Keep in mind that gift cards can't be applied to accounts with discounted plans like Premium Student, Premium Family, Premium Duo, or trial offers, but only to accounts on the Individual Premium plan.

I recommend making sure that you're logged in to the correct account, as well as checking your current subscription via the Account Page. 

Before redeeming a gift card, it's also a good idea to have a look at the steps in this help article.
