how to accept invite to premium for family

i already have an account with spotify.  How do I activate my invite to premium family?

I finally sorted this, for some reason when you click the green buttonlink on the email, the fields didn't show after you logged in allowing you to upgrade. I forwarded the link to my desktop, opened it and low and behold the upgrade to premium for my daughter came up. Completed it, logged onto the app on her ipad and she's now a family premium member. Why didn't spotify actually help with this?!

To activate the premium family account, besides clicking accept in email what else do you need to do as it asks for a login but won't accept the family members email or password - are you meant to use the code sent in the email and if so how?..

I had to cut and paste the link into another browser. Only then did the fields for user email, password and family code appear.

I was having the same issue. We solved it after we saw the email that said “confirm account” after confirming the account we logged out of Spotify , went back to the email that said “accept invitation” and logged back in. After that we were able to fill out everything! Hope this helps!

None of the links or instructions worked for me,  despite being an IT pro. In end this format worked

where XXXXX is the code in the invite. 

Just signed up for premium for family a couple days ago. My two daughters had no trouble accepting the invitation using their phones. 

 

My wife, however, has been unsuccessfully attempting to accept the invitation using her phone. The only difference, I think, is that she has had her free spotify account linked to facebook.

 

When she clicks on the accept invitation link and logs in via facebook she does not get the form, but rather an unhelpful menu.  She tried clicking on the invitation link again after she was already logged in and got the same unhelpful page. She tried using Chrome rather than Safari: same unhelpful page. I've checked the actual link she is redirected to and it looks to be the correct http.../redeem/?<TOKEN> link. I tried sending her another invitation: same rigamarole all over again. She found the "redeem" entry in a menu, clicked on that, and pasted her code into the field on that page... but it said it was an invalid gift certificate code. (There wasn't anywhere else on that page to paste the invitation code.) 

 

I've got 20+ years of experience with website development. This UX sucks. She'll try it on a desktop later. If anyone has any other ideas in the meantime, I'd be appreciative. 

 

As I suspected, we had no problems on the desktop. 

 

It seems the process for accepting a family invite on mobile is too buggy to be usable in some cases. 

When I try to Accept Invitation it takes me to the account overview page of spotify premium for family and I cannot log a member to Spotify for Family. Can you help?

This solution works - but the current invitation email is far from intuitive!!  The link in the email just takes you to a login page, and there's no obvious instruction for what to do from there.   To me, all it needs are a few more words in the invitation email, along the lines of "Click 'Accept Invitation' below, then from the Spotify login page follow the 'Sign-Up' instructions as though you are setting up a new account form scratch.  Once your details are submitted, Spotify will recognise your email address as one of a family account".

paying for a family account with no family!!

This is the most frustrating thing ever.  I have lost out on days of music.  Once my daugher gets the invite and hits accept, nothing.  Just takes her to my credit card payment screen.  We have tried everything.  Spotify you need to fix this or I'm canceling my account.  So annoying...

 

I have upgraded to the family plan and my step sister was added to my account but for some reason it disconnected her and now won't let her get connected again. How do I fix it?

I have recieved the email that contains the option to "accept invite", when i click on it theres no option to enter the invite code so nothing changes??

 

Please help me. My sister shared her Family Premium with me. I see the email. I click accept invitation. It leads me to a log in page. I click Log In with Facebook (which is what I usually do to log into my Spotify account), but an error occurs. I use my Facebook email instead and password (which I have also tried using to log in and have logged in successfully with the app) and it tells me either my password or email is invalid. Laslty, I have tried manually inputing the code in the Redeem tab and it tells me "Unfortunately this Premium code does not seem to be valid. Try again or contact customer service."

Ok so I got the same problem as everyone here except I don't get redirected to the CC information page when I click the invite link. Everytime I click on the invite,

I see my invite URL for about a second in the browser bar :

https://www.spotify.com/invite/XXXXXXXXX

(replaced the ID by X)

Then, logged in or not and mobile or desktop broswer (Chrome, FF and Edge) I always get redirected to https://www.spotify.com/ca-en/.

 

 

After that I can either login or upgrade to premium, I don't see any form to fill or anything about Family.

 

I even tried making a totally new account not connected to Facebook and sending an invite doesn't work either. I'm not even receiving the invite email, i've gotta ask the family account manager to manually send me the link every time.

 

What's up with that Spotify? I know for a fact that Deezer's invite system isn't messed up like this. Do you really wanna keep your customers? I suggest you start answering something else than generic FAQ answers and take this problem seriously.

I had trouble receiving the invite email too. I only got the email the following morning, hours after my sister sent me the invite. She tweeted them about it so i dont know if that's how it got fixed or if it was purely coincidental. I am currently exchanging emails with spotify support. Will update this thread if they manage to fix mine.

where do you enter the code to join family account? At present my son has created his own account but obviously not linked yet as he can't see any playlists from the premium account?

Does anyone know why it asks for a password when the person doesn’t already have an account? Do I have to give them my password?

My family was using accounts that were free through my Rogers cell plan.  That expired so I signed up for a family plan and sent invites.  Nobody can get in and we are not able to log in to the free accounts anymore either.  Is there any way to delete their email addresses from the spotify system and set up new free accounts and then activate the family premium one?
