how to change username

Someone created an account with my email address and set a really stupid username.  Now I want to use spotify but want to change the username.  How do I do that?  Do I have to delete my account and then re-register?

So even if I delete the account and recreate it, I won't be able to select
my own username?

You won't be able to sign up under the username you're currently signed up under. If you let me know the username that you would like to sign up under, I can check if it's still available.

Unfortunately, the username is not available. In general, adding numbers, underscores, or abbreviations can help you come up with a great available username.
