inviting a family member who has no email address

inviting a family member who has no email address

Hi there ... my daughter is always using spotify on her phone ... and since I also use it when I am at work sometimes she accidentally uses it and interrupts my music since we were just on the one premium account. I thought for her birthday I would upgrade us to family subscription so she can enjoy it all the time without worrying. But I didn;t realise the way to do that was to email a link ... she does not have an email address as we all use our one family one ... does she have to have one or can we somehow use the link to access spotify family on her phone without going through email?

Hey @lps43

The way Spotify Family works is that each person creates their own Spotify account first if they do not already have one. For everyone to create a Spotify account they will need their own email address. Other parents have asked the same question about the email address, but unfortunately there is no way around this. You can create a new email address in your name and then use that email to sign up for the account and accept the invite.

Once everyone has their own Spotify account you then invite them to join your family plan and then they accept the email invite and then sign into Sptify with that new account in the app. Make sure everyone enters the same home address when it asks for verification. Then everyone will be able to listen without interrupting the other users.

Also, here's some more information on sharing music with each other if you are using the family plan:

You could follow each other's profile. For sharing playlists, you could share playlists between accounts by following the playlists so they will also show up under your playlists section. You can copy the playlist link and text it or email it to eachother and then open it in the Spotify app and follow it. You can also setup a collaborative playlist on one account and then the other accounts can follow it and add music to it as well as the playlist owner. You can make existing playlists collaborative.
