last.fm shenanigans

Hello,

My last.fm account is connected to my Spotify premium account. I have entered my login info in the preference screen and the connection is successful. Everything is seemingly in order. When I play music it shows up on the last.fm app, on the last.fm site and in spotify as "now playing". However, once the song is over and a new one begins, the song doesn't scrobble. 

I am using Mac OS X with the most recent versions of all relevant programs installed.
