My Question or Issue

I have changed the account of my son to a managed account. After that he as no longer able to find and listen to podcasts which he does daily.

When I found it's not possible anymore to "upgrade" him again to a managed account, I removed him from our family plan.

When I am now sending him invite links via whatsapp or mail to join again, he can not log in with his google account anymore. we always receive a "somethign went wrong" message.

It's also not possible to register him with his gmail account (not through google sso), as it says there is already an account associated with this mail adress. When we try to authenticate (not through google sso) it says that there is no account associated with this mail. It's sort of a deadlock situation now 😞

Hi there @l1ausremmingsheim,

Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the Spotify Community!

We wanted to share some info about the content managed accounts have access to, since you've mentioned that your son can't play podcasts since the change. We can confirm that young listeners can only access music via their managed accounts, so it's expected for them not to be able to access podcasts or audiobook content. If you want to revert this change, when you switch a plan member into a managed account you should get an email confirmation and you have to click the Switch back button in this email within 7 days. You can find more info about this here.

When it comes to the logging in issue your son is now experiencing, it sounds like the account might be disabled or deleted judging by the errors you're getting. When an account is set to be deleted or the system detects something and it gets locked for some reason, the indicators are usually the error messages that there isn't an account with the email address in question when logging in and that there already is an account when trying to create a new one.

It might be possible that it was accidentally deleted when you removed it as a managed account, so we'd recommend checking your son's email address for any email confirmations about this from Spotify in order to reactivate it. If you can't find anything, it'd be best to send us a message via the links here so this can be looked at backstage.

Hope this clears things up.
