Hi, good question.

As Spotify is a streaming service, users don't have access to the audio files of any songs in the catalogue. This is to ensure that they're not saved or shared illegally. With a premium account, you can download playlists for offline playback on your device (must have Spotify app installed). However, even after downloading a playlist, the audio files are still DRM protected and not able to be copied/transferred to another device or played outside of Spotify. A sole exception is a product called the Mighty Vibe - the only MP3 player (not including Apple iPods) that Spotify can be used with (require premium subscription). See this page: https://spotify-everywhere.com/products/mighty-portable-spotify-player?_pos=1&_sid=ac1373b32&_ss=r?_...

Can your MP3 connect to the internet? Spotify can generally only be used on devices that have internet capability. If not, you might consider using your smartphone, for example, as your music listening device, to take advantage of Spotify's huge catalogue. See for more info on supported devices: https://support.spotify.com/us/article/supported-devices-for-spotify/

I hope this helps. 😀

Currently only iPods can support syncing with Spotify (and only the iPod Touch for tracks from the Spotify catalogue rather than Local Files)
