ongoing problem with student discount

I had my card stolen and therefore I had to update my payment. I had a student discount subscriptions and I assumed once I update my payment with a new card, I will be charged with student discount subscriptions, but instead I was charged $9.99. My student discount is still active for 5 more months. When I searched how to switch from spotify premium to student discount, it stated to cancel my current subscriptions. After I canceled, I was not able to sign up for the student plan. I have already canceled my premium subscription and it is still valid until 9/9/16.  When I clicked on the "get premium" button on the student sign up page and log in, I am directed to the Account Overview page www. spotify.com/us/account/overview instead of a form asking for my student details.

Will I have to wait for the subscriptions to expire before signing up for the student?  If yes, will I be able to get $5 refund. I can reapply for the student discount after my current subscription ends. If there is specific way to resolve this, please elaborately provide the steps. Please help me resolve this issue. I had this problem before and I let it slide hoping website team will resolve the student discount page, but it still has not been fixed. It is disappointing.
