spotify randomly play music from the same chinese artist the same time everyday

spotify randomly play music from the same chinese artist the same time everyday

hi, my account start playing songs from one chinese artist at the same time (3:54pm UTC+7) everyday for the past 4 days in a row now, and I'm not sure why.

Yes, I already change password.
Yes, I've checked nobody has controlled over what music I've played.

What more do I needed to check?

Edit: This has yet not been resolved ,seems like spotify accounts got breach to stream this chinese artist and the problem still occuring. For me I got it resolved by logging out of all devices but I don't know how others are doing.

This is the chinese artist >> https://open.spotify.com/artist/0tRn2lWQKRSC1HyGmP5W3G?si=0AjZD6DpTZyhJ5OfhTplQg

If you got the same problem please take time to reply so the dev can see this more and eventually maybe help faster. ( but with this occurrence I'm just gonna move to apple music haha )

I'm having the same thing every morning around 730am. No routines have been setup. Don't see anywhere that alarms would be setup. The song is either Japanese or Chinese because of the writing. They are singing in the language too.

Edit 6/27: It has since stopped. However, I have unlinked all my spotify devices except my phone. I also attached a photo of the song.

My gf has the exact same problem on her Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite, every morning we get awakened at 8:05AM including this very morning about an hour ago by the same Chinese song playing on her Spotify, I’ve added a screenshot from her phone. I had to upload it as a pdf because for some reason this forum doesn’t take .jpeg

Hey there,

Thanks for reaching out on the Community!

Could you double-check if you have set a personalized wakeup in the Clock app? These can be set for any time of day and could be related to what you're describing. You can check this by having a look at this page. If you see that you have any song listed within the alarms, try unmarking Spotify, and for example select ringtone instead.

Another option, if you are currently using a phone with an Android operating system, is to suggest checking for any routines that are linked to Spotify. For example, if you're using Samsung device, you can check for Bixby routines. You should be able to see this in both the phone settings and in the Clock app.

Should you be using a different device, however, feel free to let us know its make and model, along with the OS version. Your current Spotify version would be helpful as well, should this issue persist.

Let us know how you get on!

Hey there @daftnotpunk @ChooseMyFate,

Thanks for the replies.

Does this happen on all devices or only on specific ones? Make sure to follow the steps in this article to secure your accounts in case that is the cause.

Let us know how it goes.

I have Spotify hooked up to my Alexa. I play my sleep sound podcast every night. It’s a 12 hr long podcast. Every morning at 12:13 my podcast gets interrupted by random music that’s not liked or even on any playlist and will play somewhere else in the house on another Amazon alexa but not one is up controlling it. It’s been doing it for a week now and it’s really annoying.

Hey there @outdoormama,

Welcome to the Community!

From what you're describing, if the music starts every day at the same time then this may be a routine with a scheduled event. With this said, as a first step I recommend checking all of your active routines in the Alexa app and for more info you can take a look here.

Additionally, you can also check your activity history to see what triggered the playback on the speaker.

If it ends up that something else is happening it'd be great if you could give us as many details as possible which you think may be helpful, as well as share if you've tried any troubleshooting steps.

Thanks and keep us posted 🙂

I noticed this the first time around 2 weeks ago, my Spotify app, both mobile and desktop, suddenly play a song I never heard of. It seems like a Chinese song.
At first, I thought my kids played from other devices, then I realized all devices connected to my accounts are within my reach.
This have been happening few times, 4-5 times already. What's going on here?

This was the song. It's always this song.

This is happening to me too (in Canada). And it plays on my Sonos very loudly. Really freaky. Have changed my password.

Pretty much summed it up in the question, but every night my spotify starts playing this song that I have never heard before. I checked my history after it started and I hadn't noticed, and it had played the whole four song EP and some more Chinese music which I guess is related. I turned off autoplay on my phone, desktop, and laptop and nothing happened. Not sure what else there is to try so if anyone knows what's going on, please help.

Thanks for the reports everyone! Our tech folks are currently looking into this. In the meantime, make sure you're always running the latest version of Spotify so you don't miss out on any updates.

Cheers 🤘

My Question or Issue

A Chinese song that I’ve never listened to before continues to come on in the middle of the night. The hour varies between 11:30pm - 2:30am. If my devise was previously connected to the house wide Sonos, the music will play there, otherwise it will play directly from my phone.

I’ve read on the community here that this had happened to Android users before, and the only solution I saw was relate to use of a running app that I do not use.

I’ve also read of the same issue on Reddit, thought I’m not sure the posts were in regards to iPhone or Android. One Reddit post described that same song that’s coming on for me. Here’s a link: https://open.spotify.com/track/4akcBwjC5cKeclkD7Gk3Ab?si=SECeTySlT2CBmSPp2d4FIw&context=spotify%3Aal...

Thus far I’ve tried changing my password, deleting the Spotify app from my phone and reinstalling, deleting the Sonos app from my phone and reinstalling, clearing my chach in the Spotify app, moved my Apple watch  away from my phone at night (Bluetooth interference?), and check all app notification settings and turned sound off on all.

Any other ideas?

Yes! This is exactly the same artist as mine!

Hey, sorry for late reply and sorry that I accidentally marked every replies as solution, was a bit confused with the whole page UI.

Anyway, the songs from this artist stop playing when I tried "log out of all devices", I thought this was done automatically by just changing the password.

As I scrolled through this thread, it seems like other people have this issues too, so I guess some accounts got breach to stream some chinese artist 😏?

Here's a link to this artist if anyone wondering https://open.spotify.com/artist/0tRn2lWQKRSC1HyGmP5W3G

Thanks for the reply Iveline!
I don't think it has been schedule by anything as I've been observed for the past few days before logging out all device that it's not exactly 3:54pm (UTC +7), but around 3:50 ~ 4:10pm randomly. Also, the only device I've logged in so far is 1 andriod phone, 1 ios phone and 1 PC and all of the devices is in my control.

You can look other replies and there's other who encountered this issues too and we can't coincidentally have the same user error.

I literally have the same **bleep**ing chinese song playing randomly during the day. What the **bleep** is happening this is very creepy Spotify fix**bleep** pelase this is for sure some chinese hacker.

i also encounter the exact same problem as @daftnotpunk where these Chinese songs - exactly the same artist in the screenshot of @daftnotpunk - automatically play at 6pm SGT on my spotify (I attach a screenshot of the song plays every 6pm). It plays on my Laptop or my phone automatically when i dont play any songs in spotify

i have already reset my password, but this phenomena still happens to me for few weeks already. The account still shows my email name. I follow the steps from the above given articles, but it is still happening

Hey there @P1K4_CH1U,

Thanks for your reply and for the info shared.

Would you mind sharing with us the exact steps you've followed? That way, we can avoid repeating any steps. We recommend checking for any suspicious apps that might be connected to your account. You can remove any unknown apps with the REMOVE ACCESS button. You can easily reconnect the apps that you use whenever you want.

If the above doesn't do the trick, we'd like to gather some additional info:

  • Do you use/share any smart speakers with relatives or friends? Remember, for most of them, it's not possible to link more than one Spotify account,
  • Has the app always been behaving like this or did it start to happen after a specific event such as an OS update? Please send us the details about it.

Keep us in the loop!
