spotify randomly play music from the same chinese artist the same time everyday

spotify randomly play music from the same chinese artist the same time everyday

hi, my account start playing songs from one chinese artist at the same time (3:54pm UTC+7) everyday for the past 4 days in a row now, and I'm not sure why.

Yes, I already change password.
Yes, I've checked nobody has controlled over what music I've played.

What more do I needed to check?

Edit: This has yet not been resolved ,seems like spotify accounts got breach to stream this chinese artist and the problem still occuring. For me I got it resolved by logging out of all devices but I don't know how others are doing.

This is the chinese artist >> https://open.spotify.com/artist/0tRn2lWQKRSC1HyGmP5W3G?si=0AjZD6DpTZyhJ5OfhTplQg

If you got the same problem please take time to reply so the dev can see this more and eventually maybe help faster. ( but with this occurrence I'm just gonna move to apple music haha )

Hey folks,

Thanks for all your replies and reports.

Our tech folks continue looking into this. We recommend you log out everywhere and remove all the apps connected to your account. To do it, go to your account page and, under Security and privacy, locate Manage apps. If you notice anything suspicious there, make sure you remove it with the REMOVE ACCESS button. You can easily reconnect all the apps you do recognize later.

Afterwards, check in the coming days to see if you notice any difference in this behavior.

In the meantime, make sure you're always running the latest version of Spotify so you don't miss out on any updates.

We’ll be on the lookout!

Yes this is the same music that is playing. And I have a family account. And I disabled Spotify on my Alexa so it doesn’t tokay but it now plays on my phone now at the same time. It interrupts my sleep sounds and plays this. I feel like I need to cancel my account if there was a breach. It’s really annoying.

Same happening here, same song/album, randomly playing, during day, night, mornings...
Seems like someone is trying to make money / get plays on their song through some unhandled breach on Spotify api's or integrations?

This should be marked as unsolved since it is still happening to many

Didn't know marked as solution would put this post as a resolved one. I unmarked my reply hope that would help get this post an attention again.

The only solution I’ve found is deleting the app every night and reinstalling the following day. I’d suggest that until this gets resolved.

otherwise I think canceling accounts and starting over might be worth a try if you’re not attached to your playlists. Sadly I am.

Hi @AlejaR

I have tried the following

- checking my account- still my account

- change password

- remove all connected apps (as you suggested above)

- no add/lost in playlists

- no change in subscription

- disconnected from Facebook

- no jam

I dont share the smart speakers with anyone

I never make any OS upgrade on my phone

Can you help me take a look into this matter? It gets annoying because it has been like this for almost 1 month already where it is playing either on my laptop, phone or my speaker

We have the same issue. This exact song/artist randomly playing on various devices regularly. Have followed all the advice, changed password, logged out, removed app access etc. Nothing works. And the fact it's THIS EXACT SONG would suggest a Spotify issue, not a user issue.

Hi folks,

Thanks for keeping in touch.

Could you confirm if this happens on all devices or only on specific ones? Send over the make, model, OS, and Spotify version you have installed.

On another note, do you use Google Clock or something similar? Any kind of app for routines/shortcuts? If so, check that app's settings to see if there's something in there that may be causing Spotify to launch at a certain time of the day.

You can also try going to your Account Overview page and selecting the option to Sign out everywhere.

Lastly, @mooter, could you send over a screenshot of the exact song you mentioned?

We'll be here.

Hi Susan,

We have a few source devices in the house, phones, a computer, a tablet. And we have a few different speakers too, HEOS Home Cinema, HEOS 7, computer.

Normally it's a couple of phones and the PC app that might be 'open' or playing content.

It seemingly happens at random, although thankfully during the daytime (I'm in the UK). We're not sure which device initiates the behaviour, if any of them. It usually outputs on the HEOS Home Cinema though, which is odd because we do not use this for music at all (it's connected to the TV for sound there).

Specifically, I am running a Samsung S24 (Android 14) with Spotify v 8.9.48.575. My wife is running a Samsung S22 (Android 14) also with Spotify v 8.9.48.575. And the PC app is Spotify for Windows (64 bit) 1.2.39.578.g0ea3f38b

We are not running any other devices like Google Clock and have no routines or shortcuts created elsewhere.

I already Signed Out of Everywhere. We also changed the password and revoked permissions on the HEOS app.

As for the song, it's the same one screenshotted by someone else in this thread above, which I have linked below. I don't speak Chinese/Japanese (??), so I cannot tell the difference between them, but they have the same cover art. And they currently occupy the 2nd and 4th place in my "Top tracks this month", and that's saying something as I listen to music every day.

Appreciate you looking into it, and the advice. But for random users to be encountering the same issue, with the same song(s), well.... it's more than a coincidence eh?

I half wondered if the HEOS device had been compromised, or something, and the "hackers" were playing this song on affected devices to drive revenue for the artist? Sounds bizarre but I'm not sure what else it could be. Unless of course the issue lies with Spotify itself in some way.

Cheers,

mooter

Same for me. Same song, same artist. It has awakened my wife more than once.

Wow this has been happening to me as well for the past week or so with the same Chinese song and album, very strange.

It is happening to me, too, in Germany, with the same song. I have just sent an email for support.

This is happening to me too. Same exact artist. Spotify got hackedddd!

I have the same issue with foreign songs, Chinese it looks/sounds like. Mid track they start and there is no way to delete them. I select to hide them but they still come back. What is going on?

I join spotify premium for family with other 5 people. Recently it starts playing songs on its own but it is always the same Chinese song. Last week I listened to Aespa radio and this afternoon when I was at work, it played that song too. I have checked my device care (I use Samsung S24 Ultra) and it shows nothing abnormal. I sometimes join Stationhead listening party and use Galaxy Watch to control my phone. Other solutions don't work for this case, so anyone can help me with my problem? And how is it possible for the app to play the same song twice on its own??

Having the exact same issue. Midway through podcasts / songs swapping to the exact same song every time. It is quite literally peak “first world problem” but it’s so annoying constantly having to go and swap back.

Hi guys - glad to know I'm not the only one with this problem! Exact same issue here, same song starts playing every morning. When opening Spotify on one of our iPhones running Spotify Duo, it shows this Chinese song is playing. Initially, I thought this was a Sonos issue because the song would only play on our Sonos speakers, not on our devices (we have iPhones/iPads), even if our last Spotify session was playing on our local devices only (iPhones), not on our Sonos speakers. We couldn't fix this issue! Every morning, between 5 and 6am (however, not always at exactly the same time) this would wake us and the dogs up. Since we couldn't find a fix, we have changed our passwords for Spotify and Sonos, unlinked Spotify from Sonos, deleted our Sonos account, removed the Sonos app, factory reset all of our Sonos speakers, logged out of Spotify and also removed the Spotify app. Obviously, that can't be a long-term solution as we're paying for Spotify. However, having uninterrupted sleep is worth this drastic measure for now. Another site suggested that it had something to do with Sonos introducing their Web App and starting a Spotify session through a hack from there. Either way - hoping to find a fix soon here. It's beyond frustrating!

Hey there. I don’t think it’s a Sonos issue because it’s played in my iPhone natively as well. Hope that helps in your continued detective work.

Hi Susan, I use Samsung S24 Ultra and connect it to Galaxy Watch6. My spotify app version is the latest one. Sometimes I join Stationhead listening party but nothing weird happened before. I have Galaxy Tab S9 FE too but it never played on my tablet, just on my phone. This evening I didn't use my phone at all, put it in the table because I was at work, but it played that song by itself. Please resolve it ASAP

I've had the same problem. It started playing at 4am a few weeks ago, and keeps appearing and playing on my devices since. I just shut off autoplay function, cleared my cache and updated the app, so perhaps that will resolve it?
