spotify randomly play music from the same chinese artist the same time everyday

spotify randomly play music from the same chinese artist the same time everyday

hi, my account start playing songs from one chinese artist at the same time (3:54pm UTC+7) everyday for the past 4 days in a row now, and I'm not sure why.

Yes, I already change password.
Yes, I've checked nobody has controlled over what music I've played.

What more do I needed to check?

Edit: This has yet not been resolved ,seems like spotify accounts got breach to stream this chinese artist and the problem still occuring. For me I got it resolved by logging out of all devices but I don't know how others are doing.

This is the chinese artist >> https://open.spotify.com/artist/0tRn2lWQKRSC1HyGmP5W3G?si=0AjZD6DpTZyhJ5OfhTplQg

If you got the same problem please take time to reply so the dev can see this more and eventually maybe help faster. ( but with this occurrence I'm just gonna move to apple music haha )

Hey folks,

Thanks for all your replies and reports.

Our tech folks continue looking into this. We recommend you log out everywhere and remove all the apps connected to your account. To do it, go to your account page and, under Security and privacy, locate Manage apps. If you notice anything suspicious there, make sure you remove it with the REMOVE ACCESS button. You can easily reconnect all the apps you do recognize later.

Afterwards, check in the coming days to see if you notice any difference in this behavior.

In the meantime, make sure you're always running the latest version of Spotify so you don't miss out on any updates.

We’ll be on the lookout!

I'm so glad I found this thread because this exact same thing has been happening to me for over a month now and it is driving me nuts. Same artist/song, same time of day every time. It started on my Sonos speakers but it has also happened in my car. It usually happens when Spotify isn't even open or active and it has happened from my phone and both my personal and work iPads. It's even happened when I haven't been home, my husband called me because it started playing in our living room one morning while I was at the office. Earlier this week while I was driving, I was listening to something different and mid-song it switched over to this. I've been trying to listen to a large variety of different things to push it off of my recently played but it just keeps playing on its own so I cannot get rid of it. Spotify, please help or provide an update!

Mine too at 3am

I have reported it several times

blocked artists

weird I don’t like it either

I will switch to Apple Music also if something not done

THIS IS DRIVING US INSANE. PLEASE MAKE IT STOP.

Hey folks,

To anyone having accidentally missed the floated post by @AlejaR, please try the following steps and see if the issue gets resolved for you:

Tip: You can make a screenshot of your apps before removing them with the REMOVE ACCESS button so that you can easily reconnect them later. See if the issue gets resolved and then try adding your apps back one by one again.

Cheers!

Sorry @Vasil, I've done that and it doesn't resolve the issue.  For me it's not every day, usually 4-5 times a week and always between 09:00-09:30 GMT.  It also varies which speaker it plays on, and doesn't correlate to the last speaker I used.

I've done all of that- it does not help. The problem is clearly on the Spotify's side and they should fix it. I'm pretty sure they exactly know what the problem is.

Sometimes several times by day, some chinese music is launched on my account. I have several devices plugged to Spotify connect (through yamah musicast for some) and I often find that some music is launched in background. Sometimes when I'm using the app on my PC desktop, music starts itself on this chinese music that I don't even know...

Yeah this hasn't fixed anything. This is clearly an artist who has hacked the system to get additional plays. Just ban the artist, Spotify. Problem solved.

Has anybody on this thread had any success with any of the recommendations of the support staff here?

No. My only solution was the cancel my membership and join Amazon Music Unlimited.

This was my solution as well, after all the suggested fixes from Spotify failed.

Yeah, looks like Spotify isn't doing anything about it. So disappointing since there's so many of us here with the same issue.

The only effective method was to block it, however, I have still had three instances in the last three weeks. However, this has not been the case for the past ten days. This situation is even more concerning as I am unable to manually access it since its blocked, but the spotify virus atill could albeit less frequently. Passwords and app access have yielded no results.

Never thought my 13+ year subscription with Spotify would end over something so stupid.

Any news ?

Only news I can report is that Amazon Music Unlimited sounds better than Spotify and doesn't terrorize my home.

I don't want to jinx it, but I've had no issues for the past 7 days.

You mind sharing what all you tried?

Personally, I removed and reauthorised Spotify from my Sonos speakers, and also removed and re-added trusted apps (Google etc) from my Spotify account.  None of that appeared to help though, as I still got Chinese music playing on multiple occasions since.

For whatever reason though, mine has stopped... for now.

Appreciate the feedback. Will give it a try as well.
