uri's???

so i wanted to upload a playlist to playlist exchange but the uri keeps coming up as invalid. I read that you should try putting your username in first so tried that but it still didn't work.

i then read that if your user name has a fullstop in it you won't be able to make the link work - is this true? is there no work around for this? doesn't seem fair that i cant share my playlists simply bc of my username.

Hi @Katie_russo,

Try adding your username URI, not your display name.

It should be a string of numbers and letters, t.ex: 

spotify:user:4loh7509ejfioh7d4x4bay7ndb

So the URI in playlist exchange should look similar to this: 

spotify:user:4loh7509ejfioh7d4x4bay7ndb:playlist:6IBEVrOfbitfhtRncSTlqN

how do i get my username uri as a code? whenever i copy it from spotify it just comes up as my username x

Hi @Katie_russo, 

To get your username URI:

• open Spotify app on your desktop, 
• click on your display name (top right corner), 
• click the three dots (...) right next to your profile picture, 
• hover the mouse cursor over Share, 
• choose Copy Spotify URI (it should look similar to this: spotify:user:4loh7509ejfioh7d4x4bay7ndb

You can do it without Spotify app as well: 

• open Spotify in your browser and log in,
• go to your profile page,
• copy the part form the link that starts with user and change it to this format: spotify:user:4loh7509ejfioh7d4x4bay7ndb

Then you just need to add the playlist URI so it looks like this:

spotify:user:4loh7509ejfioh7d4x4bay7ndb:playlist:6IBEVrOfbitfhtRncSTlqN

I have tried the way on desktop player but it is still copying as my actual username not a code 😞

not sure how to get how to get to my profile page on web pages?

Thank you for your replay. 

Could you post the URI of the playlist you want to share, just to make sure how it looks like? 

If you want to see your profile page in browser, you can go to one of the playlists you've made and click your username that should be displayed under the playlist title.
