Heyyy rm870, If your spouse is trying to join your Spotify Duo plan and they are seeing a message that says "an account already exists," it's likely because they already have an existing Spotify account. In this case, they can follow these steps to join your plan:
Log out of their existing account: If your spouse is currently logged into their Spotify account, they should log out first. They can do this by going to the account settings, scrolling to the bottom, and selecting "Log out."
Accept the invitation: Click on the invitation link you sent them again, and this time they should see an option to "Accept Invitation." They will need to log in with their existing Spotify account information.
Confirm the address: After accepting the invitation, they will be asked to confirm their address. They should enter the address associated with the payment method for the Duo plan.
Join the Duo plan: Once the address is confirmed, they will be able to join the Duo plan and access all the benefits of a premium subscription.
If your spouse still cannot find the option to confirm their address, they can try accessing the invitation link from a different device or web browser to see if that resolves the issue.
Highest regards,

I can't complete an invite for Duo...sending an invite via email doesn't work at all, finally used Messenger, invite went through but when tried to set up an account for my spouse to accept invite it tells me an account already exists under that email though I don't recall setting one up. Reset password does not generate an email and when I go to the app and try to sign in without a password it says there is NO account connected to that email. Blocked at every turn...beyond frustrated and ready to cancel Duo if not Spotify all together.
Thanks for the response…but I don’t recall ever signing her up for the account, when I try to accept the invite to duo on her device and it prompts me to set up an account it tells me one already exists under that email so…then I try to log in but not knowing the password I try to reset the password, no email ever comes for the reset. Finally I tried logging in with no password and it tells me that no account exists under that email. I can’t think of anything else to try. I’m sure accepting the duo invite will be quite easy if I can ever set up or access an account under her name/email.
Welcoming you with a waggy tail @gygregoryy!
Hmm I'd guess that the email you inputted may have been spelled incorrectly or was autofilled as an alternative address to the one you'd expect. Inviting People To a Duo Plan help section may assist you in this endeavor.
Don't leave me howling at the wind, let me know if this helped you out!

Nope, not the answer. I have tried entering her email address multiple times, on multiple different browsers. The odd part is even if I assume an account was created at some point in the past using her email address it will not send me a reset password to that same email. I have tried multiple times, cleared the cache, everything I can think of. I have checked her junk folder, nothing there. So I'm stuck, don't know the password, can't sign in to accept the Duo invite without it and can't reset it. This was a trial so I have a little time left before getting charged...but I honestly can't think of anything else to try. I consider myself somewhat tech savvy...but this one has me completely stumped.
Just a follow up, after nearly an hour with support, via chat, I finally resolved the issue and successfully completed the invite. The support person could see no account linked to the email I was trying to invite, in spite of the app telling me repeatedly that one existed. I had to create a new email account to use to open an account for my spouse...only then was I able to create an account in her name. Even then I could not get an email invite to go to the new address...finally had to copy the link and send it via Messenger. The application does not appear to play nice with gmail. End of the day, I got it done, albeit with way too much time and effort required. Thanks for you responses.
