My Question or Issue

On this specific device I'm unable to log in into my account. Spotify closes/crashes as soon as I try to log in.

I can log in with any other account besides my own (or into any other device using my account).

This problem only started around 2 weeks ago. Didn't had any issues until then.

Tried every solution I could found online (reseting passwords, disable google smart lock, clearing cache and even did a factory reset)...

Please help me, thank you.

Hey @Nyhals.

Thanks for reaching out to us about this and for trying out some troubleshooting alreayd.

That's odd! Do you remember if something happened which caused this change in behaviour (e.g. being logged out of your account, updating the app)?

Once we have that info, we'll be able to see if there's anything else we can suggest.

Hey Peter,

There weren't any changes... The app didn't update, nor did any major
software for that matter.
The log in was always automatic (through Google Smart Lock, I guess) as the
device was saved in my Google Account as one of my trusted devices.
Also, when I tried another phone or PC, I was still logged in to my Spotify
account.

The only weird thing I remember that kept happening before I reset the
phone was that, every time I tried to start the app a blue ribbon would
briefly appear on the bottom of the screen before it crashed again.
That ribbon only had my Google Account name and Google Smart Lock, so I
tried removing the device from my trusted list and delete all passwords
saved for that device.
Just got the usual email from Google "Someone tried to access your account
through a new device" and the problem continued...
After the factory reset this ribbon stopped appearing. It just opens and
crashes immediately, without showing anything.

Thank you for your time.

Hey @Nyhals,

Thanks for getting back to us 🙂

Could you try a clean reinstall of the app on your phone, making sure to clear all Spotify app data? The steps to follow are listed here.

If that doesn't work, then we've found a thread with users reporting a similar problem which has a few solutions that have worked for others.

Do you mind heading over to this thread and giving those solutions a go and letting us know what you tried and what worked?

Thanks! We'll be looking out for your reply 😉

Hey Peter,

The clean reinstall is something I've been trying from time to time. Still no good.

I've checked the thread you mention, read it all the way through.

Tried all solutions, none worked.

At this point I found another user on that thread going exactly through the same situation (even the way the banner stopped showing before crash) and almost at the same time, by the comment's date. I'll attach it here.

This user was also the last one commenting on that thread, just this Monday.

It seems she got her problem fixed and I'll also attach that comment here.

It's still not working for me and my phone's firmware is up to date.

I'll wait for further suggestions... Mind that I'm paying for premium please.

Thank you
