Do you HAVE TO subscribe to the 60 days free trial in order to play music?

Hi, I've been using spotify on my android phone with no problem until last week, a notice keeps popping up whenever I press play to force me to sign up for the 60 day free trial. If I click "later" it just goes back to the previous page and doesn't do anything, and keeps popping back up when I try to play songs. I thought Spotify is free, is it mandatory to subscribe to a trial? I don't want to enter my credit card information.

It isn't mandatory bit you will see the pop ups semi regularly whilst on free. It does sound like these may be too frequent though so maybe a clean install would be an idea to try and get it to an acceptable level
