I just switched to Google Play Music, its GREAT

The main reason I like google play is that I can download music to my phone and IT DOESNT DISAPPEAR or STOP SYNCHING for no apparent reason as Spotify does.  Spotify is garbage and has NO CUSTOMER SERVICE!  Bye-Bye- spotify!

Yes, Google Play Music certainly is cool. I love it when I need to stream local files. Anyway, getting back to Spotify, I don't download files anymore but when I did I read that the problem was because of third party software cleaning data files and caché. You should check on that. However, I know the importance of keeping available storage on your device.
