Just updated and lost all my downloaded music

So The latest update has yet again deleted all of my playlists. 

This is ridiculous, can someone please explain as to why I have to wait hours for my playlists to redownload everytime there is an update?

In this case I'd rather not update my app at all as it was running....okay, aside from having to restart the phone when it doesn't open, and loads and loads and loads. 

If no solutions and this is to happen everytime i hear other services are pretty solid for the same price.... 

Any answers would help me decide.
