My Question or Issue
I used to have a view local file songs added on my pc and synced with my phone with no problems untill I added about 40 more yesterday and all local files on my phone turned unplayable, I've done 2 normal reinstalls of the app and 2 full reinstalls, each time after syncing the songs whould turn unplayable after 1 listen, the last thing I did was sync the songs via my mobile hotspot with usb, now some of the songs a playable but most are still greyed out?
I'll reply with screenshots or other information ASAP when needed.
Hey @Lorenzoxdd,
Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.
In this case, we'd like you to know some changes on how local files are handled were introduced. We can confirm that it's expected for local files not to be synced between devices.
On another note, keep in mind there's a new Local Files experience. We're presenting this new experience, in which there's no need to import the files from one device to the other, as the files can be stored on phones. You can read more about it here.
So, take into account you can toggle on/off the Local files in your mobile From Settings> tap Local Files> Switch Show audio files. Just to clarify, currently, the Local Files feature lets you use the Spotify app to play any audio files stored on your device (e.g .mp3, .mp4, .m4a). So, with this function you'll see all the audio files you have stored in your phone.
Hope this clears things up. If you have any questions or need anything else, the Community is here for you.
Alright! Does that than mean I have to add the same song seperately on my phone and my pc, right now I have one big playlist with the local songs added only from my pc, should I just add said local songs from my phone to the playlist to fix the issue?
Hey again @Lorenzoxdd,
Thanks for getting back.
Could you check if you've got any cache-clearing apps on your phone that can be causing issues? You should be able to search in the settings on your phone.
On another note, we recommend giving the app a clean reinstall with the steps in this article as it can help resolve different issues with Spotify's performance.
Keep us in the loop 🙂
I checked and I have 0 cache clearing apps on my mobile, I also did a full reinstall twice ready, 50% of the synced song are still playable and sometimes when I'm gaming the resync automaticly but will be unplayable shortly after I shut my pc back off again.
Hey @Lorenzoxdd,
Apologies for the confusion.
To answer your previous question, yes, you need to copy the files to your phone (as described in the support article linked by @AlejaR above) and add them to the playlist from there in order to be able to play them.
Let us know how it goes.

May I ask what are you trying to achieve with this change? You just made it so that one needs 1 extra step, if not more, but why?
