Had exactly the same problem. Nothing fixed it until I found a solution. Cancelled Spotify and subscribed to Tidal. Works perfectly now

This doesn't work. I have the same problem and the song stops when the crossfade should begin. If I stop and start the song again manually, it sets in with the crossfade.
It's not always happening but every fifth song or so. It's really annoying. Sometimes you are not able to interact with Spotify (e.g. during a shower) and then your music is gone for no reason.
