Phone OS upgrade forces Spotify to redownload all the music again.

Solved!

Phone OS upgrade forces Spotify to redownload all the music again.

Description

When upgrading a Phone OS (in my case, flashing a new ROM, but in other cases Ice Cream Sandiwch to JellyBean for example) Spotify fails to recognize the music files already downloaded on the phone. I can clearly see the files in the folder if i browse Android/data/com.spotify.mobile.android.ui/cache/Storage. It's a big pain to redownload thousands of songs every time I flash a new ROM. Is there a workaround to have the app recognize my music data?

What are the steps you took to get to the error/issue?

1. I flash a new Android OS

2. Install Spotify

3. App data says Spotify already takes up 3gbs yet the actual app wants me to redownload all the music

What I expected to happen

I expect all my music to be recognized so I don't have to spend hours downloading again. For some reason it downloads really slowly on Wi-FI on normal quality.

Great find! Thanks!
That would make a lot of sense since the device ID changing would cause spotify to not recognize the authorized phone. The same thing happens to Google music.

Will try when I flash a new ROM.
