Playback quality increases when offline mode selected while listening to offline playlists

I suspect Spotify still uses data when listening to offline playlists when mode is online.

This also seems to result in a less than optimal (gappy) playback when that data connection becomes unavailable due to for example long a tunnel.

When I select offline mode while listening to offline playlists the playback is far less gappy.

I use a HTC One X with Stock ROM Android 4.0.3 and Spotify version 0.5.1.15.g81977995 (0.8.3.608.g5049138e)

Yep, spotify is a data hog. Best to switch it offline if you have a limited data plan. See thus thread http://community.spotify.com/t5/Mobile-Android/Spotify-Android-app-using-a-LOT-of-data-on-3G/td-p/46...
