My Question or Issue

So I had the same issue before: even when Autoplay is disabled, random songs that I don't want to hear still play. Even when listening from an album or playlist, they still appear and disrupt the music I was intending to listen to. Does Autoplay only properly disable if you are a premium user? Because I don't have money, and I'm not paying for something just to listen to one soundtrack without interruptions.

I am having this problem and it's when I'm using connect to play from a bluesound node 2i. When I turn connect play off, the additional songs disappear from the queue. When I turn it back on, the random (auto play similar music) songs appear again. I see it in real time.

Hey @Justintc,

Thanks for your post.

This is currently the expected behavior of the app when using Connect. You can find more info in this reply.

Cheers.

Same problem here. Whether I start and album or playlist from my phone (iOS 15.1.1), computer (MacOS 12.0.1) or Google Home, Spotify always adds extra random songs to my queue. Autoplay is off, I've tried turning it on then off again on both my phone and computer. I'd done a fresh install of Spotify. I've tried the web version. Autoplay is off everywhere I look, and Spotify still always adds extra songs to my queue which I am not able to delete.
Screenshots attached showing settings, and queue. I put on the album II by Fuzz, everything after song #14 is non-consensual queuing.

Hey @jeremysw,

Thanks for posting here.

Just to double-check-does this happens when you're using Connect?

If you're experiencing this when you're playing music only on your phone or computer, It's a good idea to try with another account to see if that changes anything.

In case songs are being added to a playlist when you're using Connect-as @CarlosE mentioned, this is indeed an expected behavior. You can find more information regarding this here.

Happens on premium accounts as other have said.

This happens regulary when I i use Android Auto. Of course premium account. I start to shuffle my playlist which, has 80 songs. Spotify after few songs start to play random songs from that genre. Autoplay is disabled. Fix**bleep** spotify!

Hi @sp3ctr3,

Thank you for posting on this thread.

We'd like to make sure if this issue happens only when you use Android Auto, or if it also happens when you're using only your phone or any other device.

Also, does this happen when you reach the end of the playlist or in the middle of it?

Keep us posted.

For goodness sake, everybody who has posted about this has made clear it happens on all platforms, on all devices, regardless if playing on the device speaker or a smart speaker. In short, IT'S A SPOTIFY ISSUE, NOT A SOME-OTHER-PLATFORM ISSUE. What part of that can your techs POSSIBLY not understand?!Sent from my U.S.Cellular© Smartphone

Hey @NoelTonyG,

We're asking these questions to have a better understanding of each user's setup, as this depends on whether Connect was being used or not.

Keep in mind that Autoplay is automatically enabled for devices when using Connect. However, a new setting is being rolled out in the latest desktop app version that allows you to toggle it off/on for other devices.

We suggest you give it a try and let us know how it goes. If you still don't see the setting, it should be rolled out soon, so make sure to keep the app updated.

Cheers.

Well, it sometimes magically works and leaves me with only the songs I want, I will pay more attention to how to replicate "songs getting added automatically" and describe them here. But, I do have this issue while casting from my computer/phone to a Chromecast or using the Android Spotify app, Android browser (Spotify on chrome), Windows Microsoft Store Spotify app, and Windows browser (Spotify on chrome again).

Please just sort it out. Its like months later i know but its still happening. I use ONE device for spotify and my issue is that before the playlist even ends its playing random songs and most of them arent good and then i cant skip past them because i run out of skips. Its really annoying. Can you not just get rid of the suggested song feature completely or have an option to turn off suggested songs in settings. Nobody likes it.

Also incase this helps i use an iphone 8 and only ever play music through airpods. For some reason the device seems to matter to you even though its an issue with spotify not the device

Hey folks,

Thank you for keeping in contact and for the information you've shared.

The Autoplay option is only effective if the device is playing directly with the built-in speakers. If connected to another device (like Bluetooth speakers/earphones) via connect, the Autoplay option will keep playing other songs.

However, thanks to the feedback we got about this, we've implemented a new option to disable the Autoplay when playing from an external device. You'll find all the information in this Idea

Hope this helps. If anything else comes up, the Community will be here for you.

It also occurs to me on ALL of my devices with my account. Random electronic music are randomly playing even at MIDDLE of my current song. Also sometimes those trash are playing AUTOMATICALLY even when I PAUSED my song. You would never know the feeling when those electronic music suddenly playing in the middle of meeting.

Please fix it ASAP, as that is definitely bug, not feature. I don't want this interrupt my meeting so many times.

Hi @kangziru,

Thanks for posting on the Community.

We recommend reading and following the steps in this article. Logging out everywhere is not too efficient without changing the password too (we suggest using symbols in your password, such as %#( and similar).

After you do this, restart your devices and let us know if the issue persists.

We'll be on the lookout for your reply.

Hey, i have a premium account i have the following problem. whenever y play an album on shuffle (autoplay is off btw) Spotify plays any other song from the artist but those on the album i wanna listen. Ironic i know, to think i pay to listen exactly what i want. any how, it has been happening for a while now and i'm very ticked off about it because i pay for it. the problem happens on all my devices (desktop app, laptop app, android phone) and only when i wanna play a particular album on shuffle.

Please fix it quick, i'm think about going with apple or yt music (this problem goes on top of your stupid region banned songs).

Thanks.

Hi @BarryAllen93!

Could you share a short screen recording which shows this behavior in action? That way we can get a clear understanding of what's happening on your end. If possible, you can ask a friend or a relative who uses Spotify to log in to their account on one of your devices to see if they'd experience this as well.

Keep us posted. Cheers!

Oh im sorry but i actually dont use spotify anymore!! I think i wrote this complaint a little while back and i recently switched

I have the same issue as everybody else and it's beyong annoying.

Random songs should never pop up if we opted for AUTOPLAY OFF.

We pay to listen to what we choose not to have suggestions shoved down our throats.

Hey @Misleada,

Thanks for reaching out.

Does this happen across different devices and platforms? Can you please let us know if you've tried any of the troubleshooting steps proposed in this thread?

Keep us posted.
