Re: Turn off casting to nearby device in Spotify

Re: Turn off casting to nearby device in Spotify

This frustrates the **bleep** out of me. I have the Nearby devices permissions disabled on my mobile app on Android because I will commonly use my phone as a controller but listen to it on a different device like through my laptop because it's louder. Even with all of the proper permissions disabled, my phone tells me MULTIPLE TIMES PER HOUR via push notifications that "it looks like you're listening on another device. Click here to switch to this device." It's gotten to the point where I get so annoyed and say "if I wanted to f*cking listen on that device I would be. Stop asking me dammit". I don't understand how an app can continue using permissions when it is clearly disabled in the phone itself. It seems very suspicious for the app to be able to override something like a disabled permission.

Device info:

Pixel 7 Pro

Android version 14 (was happening on previous version too)

Spotify: version 8.8.80.599

Hey @RinRayne,

Thank you for joining the conversation. We moved your post to the Android board as its content fits better here. Hope you don't mind.

We appreciate all the info you've included in your post. To continue investigating this case, would you mind checking on a different device (using your own account) to see if it makes any difference? If you don't have another one available, you can borrow one from a friend or family member to test it out.

Also, it would be great if you could include a screenshot of the notification you're mentioning to have a better look at it.

We'll be on the lookout.
