Search inside the playlist is gone

Hey I'm a premium user, I use Pixel 2 XL and right now the Search Bar when you swipe down on the top of the playlist is gone. I can't search for my songs inside the playlist now. That is on android. However I can search it from clicking the 3 dots on right top and click on ''find in playlist'' but I don't care about that. That is not convenient at all! Is this one of the Apple feature things? Like how am I unable to use such basic feature now? What is going on?

Still unable to search via the playlist after a full year of complaints.

I was sad to see this forum confirm all of what I already knew, seeing as how my partner has an iPhone as has been able to search without issue.  I don't understand why it was removed, and no one in the Android community knows either.  I have been using Spotify since before my partner (the iPhone user) and even introduced him to it.  I've been a premium user, on and off for the betterment of 7 years and definitely have a loyalty to Spotify.  This, however, is egregious, and will eventually lead me to want to search for other options for a service.  Playlists be d*mned, I will rebuild elsewhere.

Hey @culhakaan.

Thanks for providing your feedback on this!

Could you give us a bit more information about this? How did you used to be able to search for playlists, and when/how did that change for you exactly? Also, could you tell us which device you are using?

Thanks! We'll be looking out for your reply 🙂

Please put the search bar back on the playlists page. I dont want to go to the top right three dots and then click filter songs. This was a terrible design change. Do the people that work for spotify actually use the al? It sure doesn't look like it. Also I have a note 9.

Hey Peter, 8 months later and this still has been fixed. When will it be changed back?

Realistically I dont think its coming back. They would rather you use their 'main' search function. But on the off chance spotify feels like adding back it's old functionality heres a bump.

Just upgraded from my 5 year old iPhone 6 to the Galaxy S10 and have now found myself here because of the same issue as everyone else. Swipe down to search within Liked Songs and Playlists was perfectly present and functioning on my iPhone and I used it a lot, it's absurd to see it's not there on a brand new flagship device and sad to see that this issue has been going on for a while with no action taken.

Spotify have turned into Facebook, they don't give a **bleep** about their users because they know better. Time to switch to a better music streaming service.

I have been a Spotify user since 2011 and a premium user since then. This is the first time I post in this forum, and it's because I'm very upset with the decision to remove this feature. Conveniently searching wkthin a playlist is a BASIC app feature. This needs to be fixed for Android users.

Hello,

It was implemented within the playlist on top of songs. I don't have old screenshots but as far as i see on community there are some people complaining about the change. As some other users said now you need to tap on three dot menu on upper right corner of the screen and choose find in playlist or sort the playlist, which adds unnecesary steps in my opinion, considering how straightforward it was prior to the update. I guess the change happened 1 week ago or so.

I'm a premium user and my device is HTC 10.

  • Thank you.

I also think it was unnecessary and I’m hoping for an update soon.

Yeah the search menu along with the filter options use to be at the top of each playlist, so it was really easy to search and sort songs.

Now you have to go into the triple dot menu, which is just needlessly adding steps.

When searching for songs, it adds the search menu at the top of the playlist anyway when you select the option, so I don't know why it was taken away.

When sorting a playlist, it's frustrating because everytime you click a sort option, the tab goes away. If you want to sort by most recently added, you have to go into the triple dot menu twice.

For me this change happened within the last few updates, at most a week ago. I actually had to make a spotify community account just to ask what on earth is up. Spotify is the only app that actively removes its own features.

Before I could swipe down inside a playlist and search within it. Now that feature is mysteriously gone and the search is under the (---) menu.
Before this change happened one was also able to play through all the hits of a playlist search, that too has been removed.

I understand that functionalties are sometimes moved and the way to reach them are different from version to version, but this app has a tendency to remove them all together and leave nothing convenient behind.

Yet again we have another app that is bias towards Apple. Recently I think Spotify have changed the Spotify app in Adroid, you have to now click on the 3 dots at the top right corner to change the order you want the songs in and to find a song in the playlist and other stuff. Why have they done this? I pay for premium, they haven't done this for Apple iPhones so why for android? There was no need for this change, its lengthy and annoying. I'm not happy.

It's one of my biggest complaints. It might make the layout look cleaner, but it's decreases the ease of usability so much. No other website makes you click 2-3 extra links just to search something, it's ridiculous.

In all my years of having Spotify and searching these board and adapting to updates this is the only thing to make me upset enough to post. This feature change is absolutely ridiculous and I can't see how they though this would be an improvement in any way.

It actually is still there, but buried in the overflow menu as 'find in playlist'. It's annoying, but at least they didn't delete it totally.

berkaykaan1

Yeah, I know but because of Spotify's animation it takes too long to open the settings scroll down and click to that. While it was just swipe down in the playlist, like why would you take something so convenient away?

iamthedans

Sorry, didn't read the post properly! In the past, they've taken the feature away totally a couple of times, so I was just relieved to find it still existed (they seem to have an irrational hatred of it). It definitely is annoying though.

Yeah, apparently they removed it across all platforms (Though my friends with Iphones still have it so maybe the person who told me that was mistaken). It is probably the worst design choice they have made yet. I am hoping they realize what a bad idea it was and bring it back. I'm also a premium user, have been for I think a couple years now, and it annoys me enough to where I will probably switch to another streaming service if it isn't brought back in a couple weeks.
