My Question or Issue

The six stations at the top of my home screen (under Good Morning, good evening, etc) don't ever change. I'm towards the end of my two month premium trial and the stations don't change ever, not by time of day and not over time. I've been using spotify now about 7 weeks, and there's a station in my shortcuts that I listened to once like three weeks ago. I understand it's supposed to change based on time of day and my listening habits, but this isn't happening. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling spotify and they didn't change. I have spotify on my desktop and the first six shortcuts listed match what I see on my phone. Please help! Thanks.

Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the Community!

 

Keep in mind that the entries in those playlists are based not only on your personal likes, but also on your region and the music libraries of users with similar tastes. That's why it might take a while for the list to get updated with more fresh content. You can help the algorithm by expanding your library with new liked songs and albums or liking additional artists. That would speed up the process and you should see an improvement in a couple of weeks.

 

Other users have also went ahead and posted an idea about having the option to customize the Home Screen and the shortcuts you see there. If that's something you'd also like to see, you can add your support there by up-voting the idea. We'll inform on any developments there, as soon as there are any. So make sure to subscribe, if you haven't already.

Shortcuts on my windows app of Spotify never update. they are the same exact things for months now, starting to get really annoyed. Does anyone know how I can solve this?

My Question or Issue

After receiving the home hub update in the beginning of April I had only 2 shortcuts instead of 6 and the shortcuts never changed or updated.

No matter how much music I listened to I continued to have 2 static shortcuts. That was until I listened to music using the web player. Right after that I received the other 4 shortcuts and had 6 like I was supposed to.

Now the problem is that the shortcuts only change and update if I listen to music using the web player. Listening on either of my computers (mac and PC) or mobile (iPhone) doesn't affect the shortcuts at all.

 

I've done the usual troubleshooting steps multiple times, like clean install etc but the issue seems to be unfixable from my side.

 

Spotify versions:

Win: 1.1.59.710.g134abcca-a

Mac: 1.1.59.697.g3af4df50-a

iOS: 8.6.28.159

 

So I'm wondering if I'm one of the few having this issue or are there other people out there having the same issue?

Can you check if Spotify is granted all permissions on your phone?

Thanks for the reply.

 

If you go into app settings on your phone, you should see a section which allows some apps to access the internet, your storage, microphone etc. Disabling those Permissions for Spotify can cause issues with the synchronization of the app with the server and prevent your account from updating and gathering information in real-time.

I have det same problem. When I listen through the app iPhone or MacBook the shortcuts never changed, they've been the same for over a month... but today I listened through the web player, and now they've finally changed. 

I can also confirm that my shortcuts only update if I listen via the web player or Spotify Connect. Really frustrating as most of my listening is directly from my phone. All of my permissions are active as well. I’m on an iPhone 12 Pro Max.

We've reported this to the team in charge and they're looking into it. Although we can't commit to a specific timeline for a fix, we'd recommend always keeping your app up to date

I can confirm that all permissions are enabled on my iPhone. Still will only update via Web Player or Spotify Connect via my Sonos.

I have been having the exact same problem as the OP actually... It has been happening since around Christmas.In the answer by the moderator, they said that it was probably because OP didn't have enough music, but for me that's definitely not the case: I had over 161 000 minutes listened in 2021 and I have over 3000 liked songs... I have also tried reinstalling the app (rip my downloads) to no avail. The shortcuts are also the same as on the desktop version and don't change there either. Anything that can be done to fix this would be appreciated.. Thank you!
