Song links don't play the song they just go to the album the song is on

When someone sends me a song link via text message usually I can click on it and it opens up the Spotify app and the song starts playing on its own. For some reason recently the song link just brings me to the whole album and doesn't play the song so I have no idea what song someone sent me. I tested it out and sent someone a song link and it worked for them but when I clicked on it, sure enough it just brought me to the album. I tried to uninstall then re download the app but that did nothing and auto play is on. Can someone help me with this issue?
