Spotify Radio gets mute every song

Spotify Radio gets mute every song

Hi,

I am using the latest Spotify on a Google Nexus S phone. When I try to listen to Classical Radio while on the cellular network using headphones, Spotify will show that the song is playing but nothing can be heard on headphones. Pausing and resuming the song solves the issue, but only until the next song starts.

Is there a way I could capture some logs to help debug this?

Hi, this is a known issue and has been reported in the bugs board.

There is nothing you can do but wait I'm afraid 😞

(Be aware that 4G and Spotify don't mix)

Hey 🙂

Would it be possible for you to try all of the troubleshooting steps and fill in the support template in the android troubleshooting guide

Also, does this occur whilst on WiFi and are you using a 4G connection?

I am in the process of wiping the phone step right now.

I cannot say whether this is 100 % reproducible, but:

  • when I am at work on cellular (no 4g, it is a GT-I9023) the problem happened multiple times
  • right now I tested with wlan and no issue occured

I'll post the answers to the remaining template questions later.

Okay 🙂

I believe it has something to do with a dodgy mobile internet connection, and it not downloading a full correct file. Therefore Spotify can't correctly decode it, just it just plays silence. Could be wrong and probably am 😉

Might be, my office is like a faraday cage sometimes. In that case, why would a pause/play sequence help?

It would allow the client to catch up and redownload a file?

Sometimes people can't get it to work until they reboot...

Even if a pause was only for a split second? Sounds like a stretch, but well 🙂

Well, it was only a theory 😉

You might be on to something. Incidentally my apartment is like a faraday cage too (what the hell are they using to build things here) so I can kinda reproduce the cell issue.

What I noticed now that it can occur multiple times in a row. Moreover, when Spotify is paused during such a bogus playback, the pause will effectively move the "cursor" to the beginning of a song (as a stop button would) as opposed to pausing properly.

If the bad connection theory is right it would mean that Spotify needs to have a check if a song has actually downloaded before attempting to play it.
