Spotify doesn't save place in podcasts

I use Spotify daily for podcasts and use it for music at night. For a month or two (not sure when this started), Spotify has not been saving my position in a podcast. I'll start a podcast episode, listen for a while (e.g. my commute to work), then put my phone down and do some other stuff. I'll come back later to continue the episode (e.g. my commute home) and find that it starts from the beginning. I haven't used Spotify between the two podcast listens, so it looks like Spotify just isn't saving my progress.
