Spotify drains smartwatch battery

My Question or Issue

When I listen to music on Spotify, I notice that the battery of my smartwatch drains quickly. I even have to turn on airplane mode when listening to preserve battery for the rest of the day. I did multiple tests on my watch like removing apps, resetting my watch, disable fitness trackers but they all weren't the cause of the battery drain. 

I also tried to block the Spotify notification being sent to my watch but Spotify seems to ignore that setting.

 Help is appreciated because it starts to annoy me.
