Spotify on Android

Solved!

Spotify on Android

I have installed Spotify on a PC and on an iPad without problems. I have now an android and have downloaded Spotify from Google Play but when I start it nothing works. I want to login to spotify with the same account I use on my PC and iPad. Is this possibly because I need to fill in credit card details on Google play? Thanks for help!

Hey again 🙂

I have removed that extra post for you, I think you are experiencing the same issue as described in this thread. Basically, if your device has an SD card slot, Spotify won't work without an SD card in the slot.

To my understanding and from other posts on the community, yes (seems pointless doesn't it?) although I don't have an android device to test it on!

Hey! Welcome to the community 🙂

Can you describe what happens when you try to log in using your details?

Hi thanks and thanks for your help!

I click on Spotify, it opens but no tabs are visible at all. I cannot get to settings to enter my login details.

Would it be possible to post a screenshot? Is it just a blank screen?

Yeah, just a blank screen. No images, no menus

Does your device have an SD card slot, if so is there an SD card in it?

Kind of ironic, since the Spotify app won't be able to use the shiny new SD card anyway.

Sorry please explain, I thought the sd card was the solution to the problem...

The Spotify application won't actually store anything on the SD card (on most phones), but it doesn't seem to work without one present. I have escalated this to the community staff to look see if anyone has any more information.

Ok, so inserting the card will enable Spotify to work but it won't actually use th card?

It depends on the phone model. Some, mostly slightly older, handsets that have an SD card slot use the SD card as primary storage. In this case Spotify WILL store your cache and music on the card. It's normally just this type of phone that requires you to have an SD card in the slot, otherwise there's nowhere for Spotify to write its data and it gets confused
