My Question or Issue
I am constantly having an issue where Spotify pauses songs and podcasts at random on my phone. It has rendered the app useless on my phone. It doesn't matter if I am connected to WiFi or operating on 4G. This is extremely frustrating for an app that I am paying a monthly fee for and primarily use on my phone.
Mine is doing this too. It usually doesn't do it when online, but when offline or even in offline mode it will randomly pause the songs. Sometimes, it is every 30 seconds, sometimes there will be an hour in between each occurrence. My app is up to date, android is up to date, I have reinstalled and cleared cache, and tried messing with every setting.
Thanks for reaching out to the Community about this.
Just to confirm, have you tried a clean reinstall instead of the regular one? We recommend this step as it'll remove the old drivers first and then install the new ones. It'll also get you the latest version of Spotify. These changes tend to solve issues like the one you're experiencing. Give your device a quick restart as well before you open the newly installed app.
It's also a good idea to log in to your Spotify account on another device just to check if you observe the same. If it doesn't occur on a different device, we'd suggest making sure that your original device is up to speed with any software updates available.
Hope this helps. Keep us posted.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Spotify multiple times in an attempt to resolve this. I have checked for updates to the app and ran an update on my phone's system earlier this week. I have also tried restarting my phone numerous times. Spotify works on my computer and my Google Home Mini. It is only my phone which, again, is the device I use my account on most frequently. I believe this to be an issue with the Spotify software and its ability to operate on my phone's system and therefore something that needs to be addressed on Spotify's end.
@Ivan , like I stated, I did perform a clean reinstall and everything is up to date, both my machine and the spotify app. I have found that the issue disappears when I put airplane mode on, and I think that spotify is trying to search for and use wifi/ cell connection even in offline mode, even though I am in an area with no wifi and do not have data on my phone plan.
