My Question or Issue
I've noticed when connected to my car via bluetooth (no android auto), the video part of any podcast will not load. The audio will work, but it seems the video doesn't even attempt to load. This happens both when podcasts are downloaded and not downloaded so it can't be an internet issue. I'm unsure if this is intentional or not by Spotify, but messing around in the settings I could not find anything either. Hope there's an easy fix somewhere, thanks!
I couldn't figure out why video never plays while I'm sitting in my parked car and realized Spotify does this intentionally. Had to find out if others figured this out and found this thread.
What genius at Spotify came up with that idea? You get to dictate when I can and can't watch video? How does it even detect that I am linked to a vehicle? That's ridiculous. I spend a lot of time sitting in my parked car where I may want video as well as audio.
I've been subscribed for years and years but this issue combined with a litany of others is wearing my patience with this app a little thin.
Hi folks,
Thanks for your feedback.
If you think the Spotify experience can be improved in some way, go ahead and create an idea on the relevant idea board. We always take new ideas and feedback into consideration to improve the app. Here you can read more on how ideas work.
We also suggest checking this help article for useful tips on how to submit an idea. As a heads-up, it's good to know that the higher the number of votes an idea gets, the more likely it is for the idea to be implemented.
Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any more questions.
Disable that ''security'' feature, you are not my mom! Or police for that matter! It is our own responsibility how we wish to use our eyes while using spotify on car or truck speakers! I want to watch joe rogan, and im not looking at it while driving, but from time to time i need to se a picture/video to get the full experience. Experiencing only audio without video while watching JRE sucks. Dont freaking suck spotify, remove that stupid safety feature! Or i swear i will go thro all the trouble and manualy download video using 3rd party aplications to my phone, and just watch it using normal video player.
Ok I confirmed that by going into settings for the bluetooth device and turning off and on permissions such as media and contacts and the rest several times, and force closing and repoening the app then the video decided to play with the bluetoth earbuds connected. wtaf.
This fix seems to be permanent, it worked after restarting the phone. I also renamed the bluetooth device, unsure if that helped.
This worked for me also. I turned off these options, then turned them back on. Now video works with Bluetooth earbuds connected.
i found out how to fix it !
go to your bluetooth setting and edit the name of you car bluetoooth to anything eles then default ! then enjoy !
Ive spent alot of time looking for a solution and what has worked for me so far was to change the name of the bluetooth, in my case i went from sync (ford system) to the name i game my car (vanessa). It didnt work immediately so i thought it didnt, but after getting in my car to go to work the next day i noticed the podcast video works when connected to the car now.
**bleep** you Spotify. You are doing it, don't blame phone or car settings. All other apps work with BT and video as people have said.
Classic cobra effect in play here as we're all busy **bleep**ing around with settings while driving to attempt to get this working which is far more dangerous.
Sort it out, you are angering your customers!
They're so silly for this. Which self-righteous pea-brain at HQ thought they were doing something? I don't even even have a car. I'm in bed trying to watch JRE on Spotify and the dumb app thinks my bluetooth headphones are a car's speakers.
The issue isn't with the car's screen, it's with the phone screen. No one is talking about watching podcasts on the car screen.. When bluetooth is connected to a car, the the video playback on the phone's screen stops working. The audio is still fine, just no video. The rest of the screen still works, but there is a just a title picture displayed instead of the video. The app is intentionally cutting g the video displayed on the phone's screen whenever connected to car stereo bluetooth. This seems intentional on the parts of Spotify, as it used to work fine and was only recently disabled. Is there a way to fix this? Is there a workaround?
I get why Spotify would have this feature. Thankfully you can go into your Bluetooth settings and change the settings on your car to "headphones" or something to trick the app. Me personally, I wouldn't leave this feature enabled by default on my app. Ultimately it's their company to run, I just don't think they should assume they know what's best for people. But then again, I can see some **bleep** getting into a car accident and suing Spotify for not having this feature enabled from the start.
Changing the name of my car Bluetooth isn't working. Up until a few days ago I was able to watch video while connected to my car Bluetooth just fine. Only in the last few days has the video been disabled. It's super annoying. Any amount of changing the settings in my phone under my car Bluetooth also hasn't worked. I've gotten to the point where i just drive around with headphones on and listen and watch the JRE podcast video that. Having the video disabled when connected to car Bluetooth is just annoying. As customers we should have the option to disable any safety features while connected to whatever Bluetooth devices.
Hey Alex, the funny thing about that option and policy, is that I'm able to watch the video podcast via my work phone which is an iPhone XR but not with my Android phone which is the Google pixel 7 pro, so why does iPhone allow video podcasts via car Bluetooth but my Android phone does not? Or is it phone specific?
I've got a quick work around that I just discovered this morning for Samsung Galaxy.
Go to phone settings> sound and vibration> separate app sound
Set app to Spotify and audio device to Bluetooth device.
Toggle off and on and the video should be up.
Nah. We should be able to sue Spotify as consumers for having the audacity to enforce such a thing they have no business enforcing.
Hi Spotify, I have submitted an idea, but you're likely not going to take it. How about you let adults, adult? While humans make poor decisions, how about you let us make them if we want to. I mean, you guys insert commercials in paid subscriptions that don't stop the podcast, why not focus your efforts on the platform rather than being nazi's.
This worked. Thanks !
