Will only play chosen song in background

I've had this issue ever since I got my new Galaxy S6.  I have tried the clean reinstall of the app recommended by another thread and also have logged out and logged back in.  For reference, I do have Spotify Premium.

If I choose a song on the app and lock my phone to save battery, it'll play the chosen song, but no other song will play after that.  When I look at my lock screen, the next song will show up, but it will not start to play unless I unlock my phone, open the Spotify app, and click on the Now Playing bar at the bottom of the screen.
