is there a way to switch songs and pause them on the locj screen? not having to go into the phone to do so?

If you have notifications turned on, it should. I have attached an image to the bottom of this post showing it in action on my android running Lollipop 5.1.1

my phone has the option to hide things on the lock screen but does not have an option to show. ive added screenshots to show you what happens when i click the "on lock screen" option..
