no search available on latest android auto

I am running android auto on a google pixel with the latest version of android auto and android 10.

spotify works well but I cannot search for song even when I am parked. normally apps on AA hide the search field when the car is moving but then reappear when the car stops.

but for Spotify no search field is ever available.. so if i want to search for a specific album or song i must disconnect the phone open the app and search the song and connect it again to the car.
