spotify doesn`t save to sd card

Solved!

spotify doesn`t save to sd card

Hello,

on my WIko Wax spotify is unable to save offline music to the sd card. Although the internal disk is full and there is plenty of space on the sd card spotify just says "disk is full". I also emtied the catch and deleted all data...doesn't help.

Thank you for your ideas!

I have an older android samsung galaxy 1 or 2. There is a "move to sd card" option but it is grayed out. Will the uninstallarion/reinstallation instructions work for my phone as well? And if I so this will I lose all or any of my music? I have downloaded it all. I'm hesitant to uninatall it because I have over 1000 songs ans I don't want to have to redo it all.

It doesn't work forget it!!! Change to Google or Apple or something else, spotify doesn't work

if u delete the app, the downloaded song will be undownloaded. but they will stay on ur spotify, so u can just click download again. its no drama. if u click on songs on the 'my music' option, u can click download on tha n they will all download together.

I just saw, that Spotify uses the new permission system on Android 6. Unfortunately, the app doesn't give a sh*t about them. No matter if I turn "storage" on or off, it downloads to internal SD. It doesn't even ask me for permission to write on the external storage. Just like it doesn't exist at all. I also tried turning permission on before first start of Spotify, it doesn't help. That's quite weird, since they implemented the new system, but are not using it....

Happy to find this thread. Trying to help my girlfriend in a similar situation. She has an LG phone with android 5.0.2. I've been really disappointed with the lack of ability to move spotify to the SD card.

So what I'm taking away from this thread is that even as of a few hours ago there is still no hope?

Sorry, no hope. The developers have left us no choice but to choose another streaming company

I'm moving to feeder it works there!

OMG this totally worked on my Moto G. Thank you!

It Worked!

Thanks for the tip. This worked very well thank you so much.

Hi, Glad it worked out for you. It's something not a lot of people try, people just expect every app to just work, although spotify should include an option to select where you want to save your offline and if you're like me and have 128GB microSD card, then scrap the 3,333 tracks limit.

Moving to google music after 4 years on spotify since they still havent figured this issue out.

I went through the troubleshooting steps a few times before finding there was no trouble to solve.

The android information where it says how much data is being given stored was actually wrong. It said 0kb stored on SD card but checking in the file manager showed the data was there after all.

I found it by going to File Manager
Sd_card/Android/data/com.spotify.music

I viewed the details for that folder and it showed this was where my gigabytes of downloads were.

I'm using an HTC One M8 on Android 5.0.1

The fact it doesn't ask is a huge oversight. However "turning permission on before first start of Spotify" did actually work for me (Moto X Play 6.0). My full steps were Clear Data > Enable storage permission > Log in and download, which sounds like what you did. So asides from the standard steps (check space on both etc.) I don't know what would be up.

Ok finally got it to work after I dont know how many tries...

  • Moto X Play 16 GB, Marshmallow, Spotify 4, 128 GB SD card

  • Make sure all traces of Spotify have been removed from the phone as described previously
  • Partioned my SD card into a 50 GB and 67 GB partitions (SD-1, SD-2) using Mini Partition Wizard
  • Turn off the phone, Insert the SD card and restart the phone
  • Install spotify
  • Before launching Spotify: Settings | Application | Spotify | Permissions | Storage | Allow
  • Sync you music - it's syncing on SD-2 (because it's the largest? because it's the last?)

Almost gave up...

Thanks everyone for all your suggestions...

Seriously???? Instead to force Spotify Programmer's to fix this problem in an user friendly way, do you seriously expect us to work around it. No way!! Forget it!!! I already delete it the app, cancelled my subscription and change to google play, and I have to say I'm so happy now I did it!!!! No hard steps, i just selected the storage location in the app menu. No extra software, no rooting, no extra device, and I don't have to read a huge tutorial just for it. Come on!!! We're paying for a subscription and they cannot fix such an easy thing???? I say: NO WITH ME!!!! I'M TIRED!!! SO BYE BYE SPOTIFY!!!!

Totally agree with you,

I sent several mails to support with this issue and they only tell me that if I found it a necesary feautre, ask for it in the

request features post. INCREDIBLE. This is a feature ?, this is a ISSUE !!!!!!!!!!!!!.

I'm thinking to move to Google Music too.

Same problem with a new LG G4. Dissapointed with how this is been dealt with, i just cancelled my premium subscription removal on jan 17th and have just switched to google music. i am currently porting my playlists to GM and they are already downloading to sdcard with no dramas 🙂

Thinking of doing this myself, could you please give me a heads-up as to how you exported your playlists to Play Music?

Thanks

U cant export them. U can only play them through spotify
