Why does ctrl a no longer choose all songs of an artist but only one album?

For me this was really useful. I don't have too much data to spare, so I just went to my artist on a pc, did ctrl+a, created a playlist, downloaded it on my phone and off I went. Now I wanted to add some new songs from one artist and make a new playlist for another, but it takes about 15 minutes to go over all the albums and singles and add them one by one... Why was it changed?
