Why follow bands if I don't get updates?

Why follow bands if I don't get updates? A lot of the bands I follow have new albums come out and have announced new tours but I've never received any updates or notices. What is the reason to follow bands if I don't get anything?

It’s primarily for anytime Spotify adds new or existing music by them. The bell at the top of your screen will have a blue dot indicating a song or an album. It holds true for podcasts too. If you want to follow bands that are touring, you best use Ticketmaster or Songkick.

Thanks, I never noticed the blue dot. I use bands in town to follow tours but another source is always good.
