What are some of your favorite cover songs where the cover is a more memorable and franky...a better song then the original.

This Mortal Coil - Song To The Siren (Tim Buckley Cover)

And this one is outside of the box.  Marsheaux's cover of Eyes Without A Face.  I can't say that it's BETTER then the original, but it takes it in such a completely different direction and I love it just as much but in different ways.

Rather than covers I prefer what I call "Hijacked Songs". "Hijacked songs" are more songs treated differently with another tempo, another style or another musical color. I would put Marsheaux in this category.

Here is my playlist themed "Hijacked Songs"

I think that this is a must. Only a bunch of people remember that this is a song written by NIN.
But I love Johnny's cover.

@user-removed....bam! you chose wisely.  That is one of the best covers around.  Great job!  I just heard a country music (which i despise) cover of When In Rome - The Promise the other day and the first thing i thought was...this is ok, but man would this sound great by Johnny Cash.

Here's a list of Bob Dylan covers I put together earlier in the year...

@djmikeystrange I always choose music wisely, LOL! I'm joking 🙂  Well...Johnny Cash gave a nice touch to every song that he sang.
It's amazing how the rhythm of that song is catchy.
In the meantime, I remember that another cover that I like more than the original and became popular is Seal's Crazy sung by Alanis Morissette.

i found this on some acoustic covers playlist, and i absolutely love it. the original is so bubblegum, and this one adds a little depth to it, i think.

This is actually one of the greatest, most interesting covers I have ever heard. It's the folk/bluegrass band The Gourds cover of Snoop Doggs - Gin & Juice.

Came to me in bed last night and I was like "must post to forum!!!"
