Linking to new Facebook pages: "The entered URL contains invalid musician data."

Linking to new Facebook pages: "The entered URL contains invalid musician data."

With the new Facebook Pages rollout today, there is an option for Band/Musician pages to pull the catalog from Spotify. It says "enter your URL on open.spotify.com." However, when I pull my band's Spotify link (by right clicking in spotify and choosing Copy HTTP Link), Facebook says "The entered URL contains invalid musician data."

As I don't have control over our band musician data, I have no idea what this means or how to fix it.

When I paste this same URL in a browser, I get what I believe is a correctly formatted artist page, and our data seems to function correctly within Spotify, so I'm lost. http://open.spotify.com/artist/0GtwtFjgSrPbiNp1UQaWFo

(I wasn't sure where in the forums to put this, so mods feel free to move this to its more appropriate home.)

Any word on this? I'm having the same trouble with http://open.spotify.com/artist/3ESTJdEM9Av7cUkILyFdvE

Same problem with my band's catalog.  Can't link it, keep getting that same error.

We've got the same issue - Any solution yet?

I take it no one has heard back from Spotify and/or Facebook yet on this? Is it an issue of replication delay to Facebook's database? Not sure if it's a daily pull etc. or direct API.

One idea you might want to try is the following -

Rather than entering in the HTTP link -
http://open.spotify.com/artist/5aq2IjqhvzBzfwdgktPBFx

Try selecting "Copy URI Link" -
spotify:artist:5aq2IjqhvzBzfwdgktPBFx

This might make it work!

Now a cheeky question from me. Are you guys using "Approved" Facebook pages? Some people have been wondering how one has an approved Facebook page. Could you share your secrets?

Then it says "Cannot link catalog: The entered url is not a supported music provider."
?

Hmm, it was an idea. Could you post up a screenshot at all?
Airhorn Enthusiast

Facebook doesn't accept a URI link. I don't know what you mean by an approved page.

Just discovered I could provide examples, after searching around pages I have access to.

Approved pages look like this -

While pages that have yet to be approved look like this -

Have you all used paid ads on Facebook at all?

Still looking into what you could do to link the catalogue, however.

David - I think we all have approved pages, otherwise we wouldn't even be able to get to the field where we can input the link and receive the 'invalid musician data' error.

Yes, I guess you do. I wanted to figure out exactly how artists can get their pages approved - some others users were asking how they can get their Spotify catalogues connected but don't have an approved page.

But I digress - This isn't the question here. One thing you might want to try is logging into Facebook in a different browser and trying the process again there.

I've tried on various browsers on multiple computers - no difference.

I'm going to fill out the support request through the contact form too, but how else can we report this higher up as a support issue? Since it's a semi-widespread issue and no one in the forum community has any clue?

The Joy of Painting is having the same issue.

I think this is an issue on Facebook's side because we have tried it with our rdio and Iheartradio links and they are not working either. Regardless, Facebook is dropping the ball in some fashion. Not really suprised.

i also have no luck, not approved! have mailes feedback several times to no avail.

@ DAVID:

We do have an approved page, yet we still can't use our Spotify URL (http://open.spotify.com/artist/4Zape1JhnU8g7iC1t9eEpR), even though it works. Every other site works except the Spotify one and we are unable to reach Facebook and/or Spotify directly in order to fix the issue. What can we do?
