Premium Trial not working in Canada

Premium Trial not working in Canada

Hi

I am normally resident in the UK and am currently travelling in North America. Since I have been out of the UK for more than 14 days the free version of Spotify stopped working. So I signed up of the trial Premium service.

When I logon to Spofify via Safari I can see that I am a Premium subscriber. However I am unable to log in to the Spofity app on my Macbook. Incidenially I have just reinstalled the App due to an error stating I was "offline" when in fact I was not offline. The fix required that I remove and then reinstalled Spotify (as a reinstall did not work).

Can you help the World Traveller?

Premium isn't working anywhere at the moment apparently.

It does seem to be working from my iPhone however.

Edit: I've never used Spotify outside of my country. It looks like you CAN use it any country.

It might not be working because Spotify has not launched in Canada yet.

If it detects that you are not connecting from a Spotify area, it might not work.

But, good news!

Spotify is planning to launch in Canada soon. (sorry, but now while you are on vacation)

However, Spotify does work in the USA though.

Spotify Premium should work from anywhere regardless if whether Spotify has been launched in the country or not. Besides even if that where true, it does work on my iPhone, but not my laptop.

Hmmm… that's very strange.

Maybe someone else who knows more will see this.

WorldTraveller - It looks like there was a bit of a delay upgrading some peoples accounts over the weekend. Is it sorted now? If it isn't, could you log out and in a few times for us?

Who's your Spotify Star?

Try this mate, if you are using it on your laptop/pc.

Click on Edit >Prefences >Scroll down to Cache, Right click and copy the path to the cache folder >Click start >and Paste the path in  the search bar >Once in the Cache folder, SIGN OUT/EXIT the Spotify client >Delete everything from the folder.

Then just load up the Spotify client and you SHOULD now have the Premium status at the top of the screen and the upgrade button should no longer be there.

Hope this helps guys.

Jamie.

Hi Jamie,

Again, it shouldn't be this complex. A simply 'log out and in' should be enough.

Tbh Sam, i tried that last night, logging out in both the client and the webiste, then logg back in, and still i was set as free and had ads while listenig to the music. I emptied the cache and bingo, streight away i was premium with no ads. It wont hurt to try this out tho.

Only trying to help...

Jamie.

Thanks folks this is working now. All I did was log in this morning and it was working just fine.

Hi, I'm in Canada and I'll be living here for a while, I never thought Spotify wasn't available here. If I upgrade to premium, would I be able to use spotify? And it seems I cant even access the link to upgrade cos I'm in Canada. Do I tell my cousin in the US to upgrade for me?

Yes if you subscribe to Premium in the US, you can use your Spotify account in Canada for as long as you like. (You can use a VPN or proxy).
