Progressive rock has its roots in the U.K. and originates from psychedelic 60s rock. Bands added influences from jazz and classical composition techniques to their songs. Good examples are Emerson Lake & Palmer, Yes, King Crimson, Genesis & Pink Floyd.
Prog rock spread to other countries in Europe, also to Spain. I used this website http://www.progarchives.com/ to compile my playlist. Enjoy the selection!
More than a year ago i created a playlist with progressive rock and jazz from Sweden from the 70s. Today i updated this list with 10 new finds. All songs are handpicked and carefully selected. Enjoy!

A new progrock playlist, prog and fusion from Italy in the 70s:
@Cochè Thanks for sharing your list and for the kudos to my posts 🙂
It would be great if you could pick the best track of every album you put in your playlist. It would make the list much more enjoyable! At the moment your playlist is too big to give good feedback on it. But anyway, you got a good music taste!
A new creation: Japanese Prog 70 is a playlist with the best Progressive and psychedelic rock tracks from Japan in the 70s:
@Jazzwhatever great topic. I'm feeling inspired to do a Modern Prog rock band playlist with bands like Spocks Beard, Porcupine Tree etc. Also do you have a favorite Prog band? For me it's Yes and that has a lot to do with my Father first introducing Prog to me via Yes.
Sounds good, i don't know much about Modern Prog. Only know Tool a bit. So go ahead! 🙂 I have many favorites but ones that come to mind now are Focus (dutch) and The Soft Machine. Looking forward to your contrinution!
