This month, I've tried my best to get out of my comfort zone, of my favorite K-pop and J-pop music, and I- I think I succeeded. I got new favorites, and I just feel like sharing them.
First up is my childhood favorite, Wannabe by Spice girls.

My mother always, always, always used to play this song at dinner, and the catchy tunes and beats always made me cheerful. The lyrics, "I'll tell you what I want, what I really really want, so tell me what you want, what you really really want," is just stuck inside my head, and has been for many years. When I was around 7 or 8, my mother started playing other French songs she enjoyed when she lived in France. Until this month, I didn't know the title of this song, and when I made up my mind to search it, I found it 😄
My second favorite is Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. (I like all of their songs, but I like Bohemian Rhapsody the most.)
In 2017 or 2018 (I've never had good memory with which year I did something), when I was on the airplane to go back to Korea, as I scrolled through the movies on the airplane display, on the back of chairs, I found the movie, "Bohemian Rhapsody." I decided to watch it, since as a child, I was never interested in fairy tales or Disney movies. From then on, I became fascinated with Queen's music, and found the album "Bohemian Rhapsody- The Original Soundtrack" on Spotify, and I started listening to the songs.
My next favorite is Positions by Ariana Grande.

Switchin’ the positions for you
Cookin’ in the kitchen and I’m in the bedroom
I’m in the Olympics, way I’m jumpin’ through hoops
Know my love infinite, nothin’ I wouldn’t do
That I won’t do, switchin’ for you
(My favorite lyrics right now)
I met the album Positions earlier this month, and Positions (Deluxe) when it was released. From them on, I loved the songs, including pov, 34+35, test drive, off the table (with The Weeknd), just like magic, motive (with Doja Cat), and more!
The reason I chose Positions is because of the song's meaning.
I'm not into Rap, but I just discovered another rap song, by Tom MacDonald that's got pretty interesting lyrics. I guess it could be considered a favorite song. It's at least a favorite rap song, keeping in mind that I don't really like rap, minus a few old school rap songs.

Nice songs!
Hey!
This month I've recently found quite a few good songs, but to start with is Hayley Kiyoko's 'Demons' - it reminds me of Billie Eilish's 'Therefore I am' but more upbeat, there's just something more to it.
https://open.spotify.com/track/0Y5nfKx3OnZWPIO0vHbinL?si=l2mTggImToaya7uykRMjcg
'Shy' by Melt is a track I've refound, not having listened to it for a few months. It's a really happy tune, and I've now got it saved for summer but I definitely recommend giving it a listen if you like jazz and funk influence in your pop music.

Lastly, if you're a UK Drag Race fan like me, you haven't been able to get 'UK Hun' out of your head, and I'm not going to be surprised if it will be my top song of the year. Listen for some fun!

Cool thread, @AyuTheHuman!
Here are my 10 most-played songs during the past 30 days, according to Last.fm:
spotify:track:4jKTKzNinSD740hSkvjz9t.small
“A Thousand Suns” – Sonic Demon: I really like the sound of the repeating main riff and effects-laden atmosphere on this instrumental track by the psychedelic/stoner rock band Sonic Demon. I recently discovered this band from a playlist put together for the Doom Charts review/blog website; and as they have less than 1000 followers/monthly listeners currently, I’d consider them to be an underrapreciated band.

“Osiris” – Spaceslug: I’ve been listening to this band for a few years now, and this has been one of my favorite (as well as one of their most popular) tracks, for the past couple years or so. Like much of Spaceslug’s music, this track presents a unique blend of space rock, stoner- and doom metal, in which a cold, spacey atmosphere and doomy riffs complement each other quite well.

“Reality Fades” – Weedpecker: This is another longtime favorite track of mine, which I discovered a few winters ago in late 2018. It combines dreamlike, psychedelic-sounding guitar textures with grungy riffing, and I think it sounds awesome. This is my most-played song on Last.fm currently (123 scrobbles so far).
spotify:track:1t5rEvsVk0InxV61cwfAAP.small
“T=0” – Ahkmed: I discovered this band in fall of 2019, and they have a sound that incorporates elements of space-, psychedelic- and post-rock. I always enjoy hearing the slow, and solemn yet ethereal feel of this track, as well as the spacey guitar effect midway through it; it's my current favorite track by Ahkmed.
spotify:track:0yf39oIeK3FD8VI5ujFPKB.small
“Tectonic Breach” – Mythic Sunship: I discovered this instrumental track last October, and it’s been one of my favorite Mythic Sunship tracks since then. I can hear the free jazz influence in Mythic Sunship’s exploratory playing style; while at the same time, the spacey, distorted, and effects-laden guitars throughout the track are typical of the psychedelic rock genre that Mythic Sunship are oftentimes ascribed to.
spotify:track:7wl1PJ4RT5TUZ1JN7x1vzr.small
“Volcano Bleeds” – Robot God: I discovered this song earlier this month from the World of Psychedelic Music playlist on Spotify, and it’s my favorite track of theirs that I’ve listened to so far. Their Bio on Spotify immediately caught my attention when I read that fans of Jimi Hendrix, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Earthless, and Elder “won’t be disappointed.”
spotify:track:4m8IKhlhbZXViQkQ3cYZrt.small
“Time” – Asteroid: I discovered this track from @StompingLlama's Psychedelic Stoner Marsh playlist, and since listening to it, it has become my favorite track by this artist. Asteroid’s music tends to have a uniquely bluesy, heavy, and dark sound, which combined with their fuzzy guitar tone, makes their music quite enjoyable for my listening preferences.
spotify:track:7HRtkOonF9ofEiFiOnoqjv.small
“Repeater” – King Buffalo: I discovered this track in the summer of 2019, and it’s one of my favorite King Buffalo songs (as well as one of my favorite tracks, irrespective of artist). As the repetitive, krautrock-influenced rhythms and echoey guitar introduce the track, all the instruments flow quite nicely, including when the more distorted guitar riffs enter later on.
spotify:track:7ecaDDfuVsAGRJpzCHbyIr.small
“Quest for Eternity” – Liquify: One of only two tracks released this year that I have saved to my library so far, this is a one-man “hard psychedelic rock” project. I really like how the entrancing main riff repeats throughout the track, with a variety of guitar effects and a heavy metal-sounding solo towards the end of the track making it a thoroughly enjoyable listen.
spotify:track:0cFKUt6kboGxdD5kRkkvTD.small
“Ellipsis” – Monkey3: I added this track to my library earlier this month, when I was re-listening to Monkey3’s Sphere album, and it’s now one of my favorite tracks by this psychedelic/stoner/space/progressive rock band. The steady drums and swirling synths on this track create a hypnotic groove which provides a pleasantly eerie, spacey atmosphere for the heavy guitars that join in later in the track.
Cheers!
