Won't play music

Today I got into my car, turned on my car thing and bluetooth connection and started music on my phone but my music didn't play. Finally I tried turning off everything and when I turned on my bluetooth and spotify on my phone it worked fine but when I turned the car thing back on it stopped my music. Please help I'm going to be ready mad if I spent $70 on this and can't use it
