Hello everyone!
We're pleased to announce our very first Community competition. Enter, and you stand a chance of winning a pair of exclusive 'Spotify green' Urbanears headphones. Surely a must-have for your summer wardrobe, as modelled by our office mascot, Phillipe, below.
To win, you'll need to get a bit creative. Use your imagination to come up with a playlist that tells a story, poem or something else entirely. Check out spotifypoetry.tumblr.com for the kind of thing we'd like to see. We like surprises too.
Just post the playlist in this thread. The preferred method of entry would the the playlist's HTTP code, so we can view it in our Spotify. Just right click on the playlist title in your Spotify, click on 'Copy HTTP code', and post below.
We'll then draw up a shortlist to let everyone vote on the top five to decide the overall winner.
The deadline for entries closes on 20/6/2012 and we'll post the shortlist soon after.
Good luck!

Thanks to everyone for taking part. And we'll be in touch with the winner shortly.
Let us know what you thought of the competition - we'd love to run more in the future!
Hi Richard,
With all due respect, the final playlists -- while quirky and fun -- really have nothing to do with musical curation. There's a reason none of those playlists have any subscribers. They don't really show a musical point of view. The only thing that it shows is that the playlist creators were good at putting together interesting song title names.
How about a playlist competition that is music based. Sure you can create a poem based out of the songs names, but the playliist song name order shouldn't tell the story -- the order of the actual MUSIC should tell the story. Kinda like the idea of a DJ when he prepares a set. It should have a flow -- a musical style and a beginning, middle, and end.
Not trying to sound like a sore loser (which I am). And I like the idea of the competition, because I actually discovered some good playlists as I read through other contest submissions. But maybe next time you can do something that is based on musical taste + poetry. Not just poetry alone.
Thanks....
