Blues : Mississippi - vol 1

The Delta blues is one of the earliest styles of blues music. It originated in the Mississippi Delta, a region of the United States that stretches from Memphis, Tennessee in the north to Vicksburg, Mississippi in the south, Helena, Arkansas in the west to the Yazoo River on the east. The Mississippi Delta area is famous both for its fertile soil and its poverty. Guitar, harmonica and cigar box guitar are the dominant instruments used, with slide guitar (usually on the steel guitar) being a hallmark of the style. The vocal styles range from introspective and soulful to passionate and fiery. Delta blues is also regarded as a regional variation of country blues. ( Wikipedia )

Rhythm 'n' blues - Vol.3 ( 50's - 70's )

The term rhythm and blues has undergone a number of shifts in meaning. In the early 1950s it was frequently applied to blues records. Starting in the mid-1950s, after this style of music contributed to the development of rock and roll, the term "R&B" became used to refer to music styles that developed from and incorporated electric blues, as well as gospel and soul music. By the 1970s, rhythm and blues was used as a blanket term for soul and funk. ( Wikipedia )

BLUES - Jug Bands ( 1920 - 1930 )

A jug band is a band employing a jug player and a mix of traditional and home-made instruments. These home-made instruments are ordinary objects adapted to or modified for making of sound, like the washtub bass, washboard, spoons, stovepipe and comb & tissue paper (kazoo). The term jug band is loosely used in referring to ensembles that also incorporate home-made instruments but that are more accurately called skiffle bands, spasm bands or juke (or jook) bands because they are missing the required jug player.

The first jug bands to record were the Louisville and Birmingham jug bands
The Memphis area jug bands were more firmly rooted in country blues and earlier African-American traditions.

Other Memphis area bands were Jack Kelly and His South Memphis Jug Band, Jed Davenport's Beale Street Jug Band, and Noah Lewis's Jug Band. Ma Rainey's tub-jug band featured the first recordings of slide guitar performer Tampa Red, who later formed his own Hokum Jug Band. Big Bill Broonzy and Memphis Minnie cut a few sides each backed up by their own jug bands; Memphis Minnie also sang and played with The Memphis Jug Band. ( wikipedia )
This story takes place in the 20s and 30s !

Hello !

Cajun Music

The first form of traditional cajun music began before the 20th century in south Louisiana. When the Acadians came from New Brunswick & Nova Scotia to Louisiana in 1764, they brought with them many beautiful ballads that told stories of bygone years. Many of these songs can be traced back to France and many songs from France drifted to the bayou and the prairie region via Nova Scotia and New Orleans. These ballads are not widely performed today, but were the basis of what is now accepted as cajun music.

60's-80's Playlist

Here is a list of artist that I grew up listening to as a child. I'm not to sure how popular they are on the world stage or in most westernised countries, however they were very popular with my parents and grandparents...

So here we have a mix genre of pop, easy listening, soul, R&B, disco and Country! From the all classic love song of Percy Sledge - When a man loves a woman to the "Hot Blonde" of her day (Blondie) - The tide is high and for those that loved the Limbo, Chubby Checkers - Limbo Rock!

This is a small playlist at this moment, however this list will be continuously added too with some all time favorite OLDIES!
